Job description
SUMMARY:
Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for leading the Technology Architecture and managing the EA team. The team consists of the following functions service domains: Enterprise and Infrastructure Architecture and IT Standards. The Technology Architecture Director provides strong leadership to the team and being a champion of the EA value proposition to organization. Leads teams in support of establishing RealPage’s technology roadmaps and the enterprise technology standards.
Leads and Facilitates the changes required by the company to use enterprise architecture to gain the maximum value for the business while minimizing disruptive impacts. Leads teams in defining and leveraging IT processes to translate high level business vision and strategy into effective enterprise change by creating, communicating and improving the key principles and models that describe the enterprise*s future state.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
• Lead a team of domain enterprise architects (Data, Integration, Application, Infrastructure, etc…..)
• Leads the definition of conceptual and logical architecture discipline, capabilities, and practices
• Oversees and participates in building out the Enterprise Technology Roadmaps.
• Organizes efforts to defines and enforces solution architecture standards, procedures, metrics and policies.
• Manages/Chairs the Governance process for the IT Standards process
• Defines and provides ongoing management of the architecture review Governance process
• Lead a top team of technical talent to solve company’s toughest technology challenges.
• Lead the domain analysis, strategy mapping and current-state assessment towards the creation of corresponding technology architectures
• Lead the development and lifecycle evolution of architectural standards, reference models, guidelines and principles that will drive division-wide technology efforts.
• Lead defining appropriate development practices and appropriate governance processes for the delivery teams in utilizing the defined architecture to ensure continuously improving alignment between the applications portfolio and the desired future state.
• Lead rapid prototyping activities utilizing a wide variety of existing and emerging technologies.
• Work with multiple delivery teams in support of ongoing technical development activities by leading and informing architectural decisions and technical design while also ensuring consistency of approach and swift resolution of cross-team issues and dependencies.
• Act as a “go-to" technical resource for business owners, product managers and technology executive and architects, working closely in order to map and support their operational needs and build consensus from different constituencies in the organization around issues that are often highly technical and complex.
Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Deep technical skills across several enterprise technologies, both proprietary and open-source, and a good breadth across many technologies – no area of technology is a complete mystery. Knowledge spanning multiple platforms and architectures with solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.
• Must have experience building digital media and transaction software systems and architecture
• Demonstrated excellence in designing and implementing multi-tiered consumer and enterprise applications (J2EE, LAMP, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Siebel, Sterling), high throughput services and integration middleware
• Knowledge of both traditional SDLC (RUP, Waterfall) as well as Agile development techniques, including test driven development, continuous integration and delivery methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, XP and Lean.
• Expertise with heterogeneous, enterprise, distributed, object-oriented client/server and/or web-based systems design and implementation.
• 10+ years of directly-related experience in object-oriented analysis, development and architecture demonstrating both innovation and excellent problem-solving skills
• 10+ years of domain experience in Retail, Media, CRM, E-commerce, Content Management & Delivery and/or Supply Chain/Distribution
• 5+ years as lead architect in a sizable corporate concern or chief technology officer in a startup or early stage business.
• A track record for managing/directing people designing and applying both best-of-breed and “home grown” solutions to meet business objectives on large-scale technology projects, evaluating impacts on integration, inter-operability, reliability, performance, scalability, flexibility and maintainability.
• Experience in handling multiple concurrent projects developing total solutions and interacting with other key business functions within the organization, including the ability to present and negotiate with stakeholders on designs produced.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with marketing and product strategists, e-Commerce technology counterparts, project managers, Product Directors, designers, and analysts.
• Strong Cross Functional Leadership Skills especially in guiding key business and IT decision makers toward a common strategic business technology vision and roadmap
• Understanding of common architecture frameworks (such as TOGAF and FEAF).
• Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
• Ability to establish and maintain a high level of Business Client trust and confidence.
• Ability to interface with executive level management and give senior level presentations
• Experience making results oriented, enterprise level decisions
• Strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
• Demonstrate strong personal and organizational leadership skills.
• Outstanding collaboration and team building skills
• Expertise in developing and architecting solutions in a collaborative environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university, eight (8) - ten (10) years Information Technology experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
