Job Description:
Global Brand Imaging, the newest creative team within Nike’s Global Brand Experience division, is looking for a recognized photo industry leader to build and lead its Post-Production function. This is a rare opportunity for a uniquely qualified and elite-level candidate to take part in the creation of a division from the ground up. The team, systems, and processes you build will have a directly visible impact on the public face of one of the world’s most coveted and recognizable brands.
As part of the Global Brand Imaging leadership team and the chief officer of the function that retouches, publishes, and archives every asset in the Nike product imaging catalog, you will be responsible for the safe, consistent, timely, and cost-effective delivery of all digital assets to stakeholder businesses, as well as the scalable development of the workflows that make that possible. Beyond conventional photography, the Director of Post-Production will help innovate completely new imaging processes that will transform how Nike’s consumers experience our products, such as video, AR/VR, computer graphics, and intelligent image search. Familiarity with these cutting-edge technologies and a passion for their continual evolution is a must.
The exceptional candidate will be distinguished by combining deep expertise in the creative demands of the digital imaging industry with a proven track record as a technical process expert that knows what studio businesses need to function successfully in the real world. A first-hand knowledge of building asset management organizations at massive scale is essential. Unflappable under pressure, you keep cool on seasonal peak deadlines and confidential high-heat global product launches, because you’ve managed large editing teams through dozens of them before. Balancing brand savvy and lean production skills, you know how to partner with the other divisional leaders of Global Brand Imaging to continually expand the variety of premium services on offer to Nike’s consumers, while also keeping our operation scalable, cost-efficient and waste-free.

Responsibilities:
Technical post-production supervision of all product imaging assets, including retouching, video editing, color management, video color grading, product data verification, publication, and archiving
Ultimate accountability for the safe, timely, and cost-effective management of all consumer-facing product imaging assets
Development, deployment, and upkeep of rigorous asset security protocols to safeguard all confidential assets
Continual cross-functional partnership with the stakeholders and businesses that Global Brand Imaging serves, from outreach to problem solving to regular operational reporting and communication
Recruitment, management, and long-term development of all post-production teams
Ownership of all technical SOPs related to asset management. Leads the team responsible for authoring its standards, keeping them continually updated with latest technological advances, and maintaining all content on a dynamic web-based platform
Designing, procuring, and maintaining all asset management hardware installations, from in-studio networking to long-term archiving, both on- and off-site
Directs multiple teams globally on the innovation, use, and optimization of new technologies that provide an ever-expanding variety of ways that consumers will visually experience Nike products online
Partners with Director of Platforms & Technology to define the feature sets and development needed for the Imaging team’s central workflow software
Reports directly to Senior Director of Global Brand Imaging
Desired Skills and Experience
3+ years experience supervising the development and operation of a digital imaging post-production operation, with oversight responsibilities for retouching, video editing, asset management, and hardware installation
5+ years experience as principal contributor and expert leading a team of individual retouchers, both fulltime and freelance
10+ years experience as a digital retoucher
Online portfolio that demonstrates expertise in applied retouching techniques for both on-figure apparel photography and still-life (off-figure) product photography
Exceptionally high degree of technical skill in the retouching, editing, and computer-generated imaging fields
Experience with managing and developing people
Established and demonstrable network within the post-production, retouching, and asset management segments of the photo industry
Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop, After Effects, and/or Premiere Pro
Phase One Certified Professional
Broad marketing and brand experience across e-commerce, retail, editorial, and advertising sectors of the fashion or sportswear industry
Expertise in computer graphics and 3D digital rendering
Experience at the senior leadership level as a manager of managers
Working relationships with both post production agencies and individual retouchers and editors in New York, Los Angeles, and other major photo industry centers
Excellent written and oral communication
