Audible is seeking a proactive, articulate, creative and enthusiastic individual for the role of Director, Internal Communications, International. This position will report to the Vice President of Internal Communications within the Global Corporate Affairs team and will play a vital role in engaging employees in Audible’s expansion and success in key geographic territories. This position is based at our loft-style HQ in Newark, NJ – 20 minutes from Manhattan, but will require travel to our international locations on a regular basis.
This role will have responsibility for supporting global communications initiatives for Audible with a key focus on internal communications and employee engagement. This is a global collaborative role, working across countries and time zones to lead our international internal communications strategy, coordinate internal communications efforts across international territories, collect and share best practices and success stories and provide strategic communications counsel and implementation support to international/market segment leaders. The role requires superior communication and presentation skills (both written and oral); experience and understanding of the evolving communications landscape as well as cross-cultural sensitivities; and keen ability to articulate all of the above internally and externally.

The successful candidate is able to work successfully in a team environment and build effective working relationships across the organization, and can react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround. As this position is tethered to the office of the CEO, a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information is critical.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Vice President Internal Communications and international business leaders to develop and implement a communications approach, processes and protocols that drive cross-cultural communication and help to further connect and engage employees outside the US, in alignment with our existing global internal communications strategy
Partner with other Corporate Affairs and HR team members to inform, engage and inspire employees around our People Principles, business strategy and priorities, content offerings as well as various community engagement programs through timely, effective and relevant internal communications
Serve as a communications business partner to key international/local market segment leaders, including providing support for message development and implementation.
Adapt messaging and communications vehicles and formats as needed, including identification of new communications channels, to ensure messages are well received in all territories and address cultural sensitivities.
Develop and implement a clear cadence for communications programming in international territories and contribute to the overall global internal communications cadence and message development.
Identify ways to measure the effectiveness of international internal communications efforts, using existing and new measurement tools.
Serve as a liaison to Amazon Internal Communications team in various international territories to better align when and what messages Audible employees receive.
Share ongoing learnings with the broader Global Corporate Affairs team and help to develop multi-cultural knowledge and skillsets
Frequent travel required outside of the U.S.

Basic Qualifications
Strong expertise and understanding of internal communications and the international landscape
Written communication—exceptional writing skills, strong line-editing, copyediting and proofreading skills, varies writing style to meet needs, presents data effectively.
Oral communication—speaks clearly and persuasively; possesses ability to engage others; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; actively participates in meetings
Technical skills—strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint ability as well as experience with intranet platforms such as SharePoint. Ability to use visual concepts, graphic design or HTML a plus.
Digital fluency – foundational understanding of behaviors in the digital space and digital platforms.
Proven ability to use multiple communications channels and technologies to create impactful communications that are aligned with strategy and ensure we are reaching employees when and where they are available
Capacity to work across teams at the highest levels of the Audible organization, enjoys working with people and understands discretion and diplomacy
Ability to plan and coordinate internal campaigns and events —should have superior organizational and project management skills and attention to detail
Ability to think innovatively and creatively, and change course if necessary, to achieve desired results

Preferred Qualifications
College degree in social sciences or humanities required
10 or more years of work experience in a communications capacity
Experience in a global / matrixed business environment; both managing international territories and HR partnership a plus
Experience working in a multi-cultural, cross-functional environment that appreciates different perspectives and collaboration
Adept at using and experimenting with communication technologies
Willing to roll up one’s sleeves and get work done, even when outside the scope of the job.
