Director Analytics Etsy Brooklyn

Job Description:
Etsy is seeking an experienced leader to manage its data analytics team, platform and services. You’ll lead an extraordinary team, work closely with peers in marketing, product, engineering, and finance, and deliver exceptional insights that help drive Etsy’s strategy.
The Analytics team uses rigorous analytics to generate insights that inform product, marketing and business decisions across the company, and across the idea lifecycle -- from ideation to iteration to launch. The Analytics team is composed of three subgroups: Product Analytics (supporting Etsy’s product development teams), Marketing Analytics (supporting Etsy’s digital and brand marketing teams), and Business Insights (support Etsy’s finance and business teams). Ultimately, the team’s work strengthens Etsy as a sustainable and profitable business and helps continuously improve the Etsy experience for buyers, sellers and employees.

As Director of Analytics, you will define the vision and roadmap for the a best-in-class analytics team and platform. You will partner with business leaders to identify the most impactful projects for the company, and use analytics to evaluate those opportunities and their eventual impact. You will immerse yourself in Etsy’s rich datasets and analytical offerings to become an expert in the Etsy user and product experience, as well company’s business performance. This position is based in Brooklyn, NY and reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities
Own the data analytics function at Etsy, including providing business analytics and data insights that informs both day-to-day tactical decisions and Etsy’s long-term strategic vision.
Manage a team of analysts that consistently deliver valuable data-driven insights through the discovery of patterns and trends. Interpret and surface those findings to company executives, board of directors and internal stakeholders as needed.
Iterate on and improve an analytical suite that leverages vast amounts of internal and external raw data. This includes the development and refinement of key analytical tools and services, including customer lifetime value models, churn models, attribution models and A/B testing frameworks.
Partner with data engineering to determine the vision and roadmap for the technology infrastructure that ensures reliable delivery of high-quality data sets. Evaluate data and tooling vendors to marry the best of robust internal data stack with third party tools.
Evangelize the work of the Analytics team across the company, serving as a bridge, buffer and conduit between technical and non-technical groups and bringing passion, gravitas and tact to cross-company collaborations. Promote a culture of skeptical inquiry, learning and nuance that empowers individuals across the company to make data-driven decisions.
About You
You have 10+ years of experience in analytics, data science and/or business intelligence including at least 4 years experience as a manager.
You have hands on experience working with very large datasets, ideally clickstream data. You have the technical chops (SQL, R, Python) to work with data of this scale, and to teach others how to do the same.
You have experience on subjects such as customer lifetime value, survival and attrition models, attribution models, and experimental design -- and you can communicate these opinions with both conviction and finesse.
You have a strong understanding of data warehouse and data integration architectures and tools.
