The Director, Communications Strategy is one of the primary Technology Services Communications advisors charged with leading the development and execution of sector-level communications strategy, planning and messaging. The Director will play an important and influential role advancing the sectors business goals and objectives. She or he will lead, in partnership with other members of the Communications leadership team as applicable, key sector initiatives to promote and publicize Technology Services culture, people, products and performance, expanding awareness of Northrop Grummans brand and reputation as a leader in aerospace, research, technology, science, engineering and innovation.
This position is ideal for a strategic thinker and hands-on individual who can take projects from concept to implementation, and has a proven track record of simultaneously managing and delivering multiple communications projects.

In this dynamic role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for:



Setting the strategy and tactical plan for expanding awareness of Northrop Grummans brand through Technology Services accomplishments, thought leadership, capabilities and operational performance



Active engagement with emerging and non-traditional communications avenues and outlets, including but not limited to platforms, partnerships and branded content



Leading development and execution of sector-level integrated communications strategy

Create top down integrated messaging to be used across the enterprise
Oversee sector contributions to the external communications hubs and the Internet website
Represent the Communications function in preparation of the sectors Long Range Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan
Oversee the development and execution of integrated communications plans (ICP) and support managed by division account managers
Partnering with peer directors throughout the corporation on the communications strategy and associated integrated communications plans to communicate key recurring and non-recurring initiatives for employees and for external audiences via social, digital and traditional media



Working in collaboration with other sectors on major corporate-priority captures and pillar campaigns

Conducting regular audits of communication plan execution by internal and external partners and providing feedback and direction to ensure strategies are effectively and coherently delivered through-the-line in all sector communications

Managing Media Relations and Public Relations (PR) to elevate Northrop Grumman awareness in key segments and drive differentiation, including:

Manage media inquiries and develop/maintain strong relationships with media representatives
Oversee advertising, trade show and sponsorship strategies for the sector
Support the Northrop Grumman brand strategy and ensure communications and collateral align and support Northrop Grumman messaging
Develop customer-facing and partner-facing collateral and presentations as required that communicate messaging
Collaborate closely with multiple internal stakeholders, to assure business objectives are met

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree, preferably in Business, Communications, or other liberal arts discipline and a minimum of 10 years experience
Experience in the latest social media applications including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, blogs and websites.
Experience leading a team small to mid-size teams
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
Strong research skills with the ability to organize information and present results to business partners
Attention to detail in developing high quality results
Creative problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced team environment
Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance
US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of experience
Minimum 2 years experience in the latest social media applications including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, blogs and websites.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a science, technology, aerospace, defense business, academic institution, or government organization
