Manager Manager Network Engineering And Operations Google Thornton

Job Description: • 2-minute read •
As the Manager of Network Engineering & Operations, you will use your broad and deep background in real world physical layer infrastructure networking to lead Google's operations teams in managing the aggressively growing and evolving physical network assets.

You will manage the US optical operations organization which monitors, repairs, and maintains networks with complete and continuous awareness of Google’s WAN Network Infrastructure. You will measure and monitor current performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and continuously improve the processes and performance driving down our ‘mean time to resolve’ (MTTR) metric. You will work with internal customers to find areas of improvement and efficiency, and facilitate the documentation and lifecycle management of Google’s physical network Infrastructure. You're equally at home managing a distributed team, driving process improvements, and facilitating vendor improvement and management of the WAN infrastructure all of Google’s users rely on.
You have a passion for developing strong documentation and acceptance testing and repair standards, and ensuring these standards are adopted and practiced by network engineers, architects and field technicians around the globe. You have a strong bias toward action, while also recognizing the value of cost control and careful planning in a production environment. You are a strong, charismatic leader who takes pride in helping others succeed and are equally adept at leading teams and influencing groups not directly under your supervision. You will work closely with the Network Operations, Project Management, Tools Development and Contracting/Procurement teams to provide a seamless and reliable expansion of the Google network that benefits both internal and external customers.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We're always on call to keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
