We are looking for a passionate, outgoing, and talented individual embedded within the entrepreneurial and innovation communities to build overall strategic design and development with New York Life Ventures (NYL) and the startup/VC communities and spearhead community-building efforts. This position will build/improve upon our existing trusted community to help us reach new levels of relational leverage. We value creativity and humanity and the perfect candidate will help create and grow new initiatives to strengthen the NYL Ventures platform both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
Build and manage vast trusted relationship network (internal and external) to help drive positive outcomes for NYL (e.g. Investment, strategic and innovation opportunities)
Develop the design and drive strategy and growth thesis overall for NYLV with Business partners and external partners
Independently define highly disruptive customer opportunity areas for the business and lead the mapping of customer pain points and ecosystems, generally across NYL
Meet rgulary with VCs and innovation partners to keep pulse on market developments
Establish firm contact and communication system for managing and coordinating internal and external business development interactions.
Plan and produce small- and large-scale events with entrepreneurs and high-level technology executives to help drive fresh thinking throughout NYL
Support New York Life Ventures’ media relations strategy, both with traditional media journalists and online influencers (creating, executing, and measuring). Execute effective social media strategy and broader targeted outreach (including writing and managing multiple social media presences).
Contribute to the development of key innovation themes and assist with intelligence for research projects.
Help strategize new project initiatives based on goals, including priority setting and execution where appropriate
Requirements:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to foster communication and cooperation among diverse individuals both online and offline.
Self-motivated with dedicated work ethic and entrepreneurial attitude. This individual will work in a largely unstructured yet goal-directed environment. It will be up to her/him to take top-level goals, translate them into a tangible workstream, and then execute effectively.
Active contributor to the entrepreneurial community with extensive network across technology startups.
A “digital native” with a strong interest in new technology and the evolving digital landscape.
Possess a hands-on proficiency with many online tools for managing and executing a communication strategy
Effective writing skills and high attention to detail.
Previous experience with (tech) public relations and media outreach preferred
Experience involving business operations and/or project management a plus.
