This exciting leadership opportunity for a senior-level Project Management professional encompasses all facets of project management, client management and team leadership. The most typical project roles for the Director, Program Management are Delivery Lead or Engagement Lead. The Director, Program Management will be accountable for delivery of large scale digital engagements to clients as well as managing the client relationship from a delivery and commercial standpoint.
A Director of Program Management must have excellent program management skills to lead teams in distributed environments involved in delivering complex business systems. Relationship building skills, as well as strong leadership and team management skills are key expectations too. He/she must have a deep understanding of various commercial parameters and their business impact on delivery.
The Director, Program Management creates a positive team environment that promotes coaching, individual development and high performance standards, and is responsible for career management and demonstrable growth of the people on his/her teams. He/she also contributes to the development of the Program Management Domain and community through training/mentoring others, knowledge sharing and leveraging of best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Structures and manages integrated projects and programs to achieve expected business results
Manages large, complex digital projects/programs (50-100 people) to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality
Leads proposal efforts and can sell Sapient value proposition
Leads diverse teams (i.e., multiple domains, across geographies, potential partners involved) to deliver integrated client solutions that achieve measurable business results for our clients
Manages the financial profitability of the engagement - costs, collections, etc.
Responsible for relationships with client's senior leadership team and communicates status and issues regularly
Shaping follow-on opportunities for Sapient at existing clients
Identifying business development opportunities for Sapient with new or existing clients and leading our response efforts
Plans Sapient projects or work packages up front by leading the estimation efforts
Mobilizes and manages a team to execute against project plans
Manages the growth of the project team
Experience Guidelines:
10+ years of Project and Program Management within a digital agency or highly creative atmosphere
Previous agency experience is preferred
Experience in sales efforts such as writing proposals, RFP responses and other sales related activities
Experience in managing complex digital projects with large teams
Must be client facing
Led a Business Design AND a Technical Design phase
Led teams with multiple discipline representation (especially technology, user experience, and business consulting)
Familiarity with Agile and Iterative Development (or other new PM methodologies)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent military experience
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business or related field desired
