Policy Director - CLEAResult - Austin


Job description
CLEAResult works with utilities, and can engage government officials, regulators, and stakeholders to remove obstacles or promote policies to advance sales. You will work in collaboration with the CLEAResult Executive, policy, sales and marketing teams across the country to evaluate and influence the regulatory environment in strategic markets, and foster sensible policy based on best practices.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen to policy / regulatory work. You are a relationship builder, policy advocate, and communicator with strong written, oral and analytical skills. You also desire to get out into the field to accomplish your objectives through face-to-face meetings with officials, regulators, stakeholders, utilities, and CLEAResult staff.

Work with organization leaders – the Executive and Senior Management Teams - to develop public policy agendas and strategies for advocating those agendas, both nationally (i.e., at Federal levels in the United States and Canada) as well as locally.
Establish relationships with local, state, and national lawmakers and key stakeholder organizations in order to influence policymaking.
Track the activities of policymakers and research policy issues in order to draft reports and keep the organization up to date.
Track and assess regulatory landscapes and potential changes that may influence CLEAResult business. Share insights with the sales and marketing team to inform sales and product strategy. Use those assessments to define, lead, and execute regulatory strategy both regionally and nationally.
Present the policy positions and opinions of the organization to the public, government officials, and other organizations.
Collaborate closely with Business Unit, sales, and marketing teams and our clients to build regulatory support with public utility commissions and state energy offices for new approaches to managing and measuring demand side management.
This position will support sales when policy / regulatory influence would help advance CLEAResult’s business indirectly; and contribute directly to sales when regulatory influence can immediately advance specific opportunities.

Has a deep understanding of Public/Energy Policy and the process/methods of generating policy change.

Desired Skills and Experience
7-10+ years experience in working with utilities and/or other public entities to develop / influence public energy policies / regulations.
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree preferred
Mastery of Microsoft office products, with a emphasis on Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Understanding of CRM systems and how to use / leverage those systems to organize companywide policy efforts
Capable of crafting compelling visions and influencing / persuading others to commit to and follow through on supporting your vision.
