RESPONSIBLE TO: Camp Director
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complete program activity of camp.
2. Scheduling of campers and staff.
3. Compliance of the camp and camp staff with current American Camp Association Program Standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop master schedules for:
a) Camper activity group assignments
b) Staff activity area assignments
c) Plan and carry out daily activity schedule
d) Hiking/trip assignments and scheduling
2. See that all camp programs are supported by current lesson plans.
3. Have Counselors update Red Notebooks to build up activity ideas each year for future reference. Review each activity by the end of camp to ensure that great ideas are passed on.
4. Ensure the proper utilization of lesson plans and equipment by the counselors.
5. Utilize Camper Activity Choices Forms before and during pre-camp to schedule campers into their personal activity choices as soon as possible.
6. Set up overall camp schedule and individual counselor schedules during pre-camp. Provide copies of both to the Director's Office.
7. Distribute (when completed) additional schedules as follows:
a) Overall camp schedule to Director, HC, and each specialist
b) Copy of a master COD schedule and a master coverage schedule (duties, rest hour, and nighttime) to Director, HC, each specialist, WF Director, CIT Director, and all counselors
c) Copies of each camper's personal activities schedule to HC
d) Bass Fishing Day schedule to Director, HC, each specialist, WF Director, CIT Director, and all counselors
e) Green & White Day schedule to Director, HC, each specialist, WF Director, and LCP Kitchen Staff
f) Hiking/trip/overnight schedules to Director, HC, CODs involved, and LCP Kitchen Staff prn
8. Take a pro-active role in pre-camp Counselor/Staff instruction as it relates to camp program activities. Cover assigned areas in the pre-camp schedule.
9. Check and approve appropriate evening program activities, Bass Fishing Day activities, Green and White games, and Cabin Time activities. Make suggestions for improvement where needed.
10. Provide support for the CODs; facilitate their planning and implementation of evening programs. Maintain/update a notebook of Evening Program plans on a daily basis as a continuous resource.
11. Work with the CIT Director to integrate CITs into the daily camp schedule, honoring as much as possible their individual preferences/areas for continued learning.
12. Observe counselors in all program activities to which they are assigned a minimum of 2 times during camp. Provide support and positive feedback as much as possible and take corrective action, especially for safety issues, if necessary. Keep track of specific observations/feedback on Camp Activity Evaluation forms. Keep the Camp Director informed of any corrective action taken preferably before it is done.
13. Ensure safety rules are posted for each activity and followed. Continuously monitor the safety of the campers and staff, specifically in all activities and in general around camp. Take corrective action for/report all observed potential safety concerns in writing to the Director.
14. Anticipate hiking assignments. Notify Counselors of their assignments as far in advance as possible. See that the Kitchen and Medical Staff are notified in a timely manner as well.
15. Set up activity clipboards, (e.g., hiking, ropes, waterfront).
16. Carry out miscellaneous duties as assigned.
17. Provide observations/insights via Google Docs into each counselor's overall performance in their assigned program areas based upon your observations and supported by Camp Activity Evaluations. This information will be incorporated into each counselor's camp evaluation and should include as many specific examples as possible to provide a complete overview.
18. Participate in an end-of-camp meeting after the camp staff has departed at the end of post-camp. Have information ready for the overall evaluation of the campers/council/CITs and make recommendations for the next season. Review submitted camper and CIT evaluations prior to this meeting.
19. Submit an end-of-summer evaluation of the entire camp program based upon staff program evaluations and staff overall camp evaluations. Make recommendations for future development and improvement. Include equipment/supplies needed or anticipated for next year.
20. Make recommendations for specific counselors/CITs who you feel would do well with advanced training in Lifeguarding, Small Craft, WSI, Archery, Nature, and/or other program area(s).
21. Work closely with the Director before, during and after camp.


REQUIREMENTS
1. At least 21 years of age
2. Three years camping experience.
3. Three years of college or equivalent experience in camping.
4. Ability to supervise and organize adults.
5. Interest, knowledge and skills in the program areas offered.
6. Ability to teach and build enthusiasm in others
7. Professional development/experience in camping or related area (recreation, environmental studies, counseling, physical education, etc.) preferred.
