The Finance Director, FP&A Opex is responsible for the budgeting, forecasting and analysis of more than half of Dow Jones’ operating expenses. In particular, this position manages the team that oversees finances for and partners with our most critical areas: News & Editorial, Print Operations, Facilities, Security, Legal, HR, Finance, Corporate Communications, Business Operations, and the Office of the CEO. This position also works closely with Financial Management Accounting (FMA) to budget, forecast and analyze the company’s complex and involved benefits expenses.
Responsibilities

Position should expect to speak to the SVP, FPA and the CFO on a regular basis to field questions about financial performance for his/her areas

Will form partnerships with the department heads for his/her areas of coverage as well as their financial delegates

Manage and develop a team of 6 (4 in Princeton, NJ and 2 in Hong Kong)

Owns budgeting and forecasting for assigned areas

Financial analysis for areas of coverage as well as working with peers on cross-functional analysis

Manage compensation for areas of coverage

Ensure that accurate and timely monthly financial results and quarterly forecasts are provided for supported departments

Maintain a thorough understanding of the revenue and cost drivers and trends for these departments and explain/report these to senior management.

Provide financial models and analyses to help drive business decision

Identify and address procedural problems/deficiencies impacting integrity and timeliness of financial information.

Skills & Experience

7+ years corporate Finance experience

CPA/CMA or international equivalent

“World-class” Excel skills

Strong attention to detail

Strong PowerPoint skills

Strong presentation skills and ability to speak calmly and persuasively before high-level executives

Prior publishing industry experience, particularly with digital properties

Acquaintance with PeopleSoft Financials and TM1 database tool

Demonstrable experience dealing with high pressure situations

Must work in New York
