The Director, Product Management leads the development, commercialization and maintenance of the assigned student product lines. The position interfaces with all product stakeholders to understand the market needs and application workflows, and communicates those needs as value propositions and functional specifications to the organization. This role supervises the product manager(s) assigned to the product line and reports to the Vice President, Product.

Strategic Planning:
- Leads the market by enabling a 360 view of students and improves learning outcomes through innovative features and data analysis.
- Provides independent "best of breed" modules that solve unique educational problems and when combined provide a 360 view of students.
- Executes on thought leadership in K12 by providing features/functionality in software that build on our market leading ideas.
- Works closely with Engineering and other departments to ensure functional requirements and customer needs are met.
- Understands the global market landscape and competitive offerings to ensure that our product features, benefits and gaps are clearly understood.
- Provides clear definition of user needs and application workflows from a deep understanding of our customers and their applications.
- Defines product line strategy, assesses new product ideas, and develops business cases that lead the company to potential break-through products.
- Provides support and product information to other departments in the production of support materials: user documentation, internal and customer training content and product marketing collateral.
- Compiles and analyzes data on customer satisfaction, sales and marketing effectiveness, and new ideas for insights to product and collateral improvements.
- Educates employees throughout the company in product applications during new product releases.
- Interfaces with field personnel and key customers to resolve any reoccurring challenges with the products.
Product Management:
- Transfers knowledge of vision, strategy, and market information to software designers.
- Translates strategy and vision to deliverables.
- Coordinates cross-functional agile teams.
- Mentors product managers and product owners.
- Manages standards and processes for the agile design and development of software.
- Facilitates information sharing between teams.
- Provides general direction to student Product Owners and Managers.
- Participates in tactical meetings to share information and reinforce vision, standards and processes.
- Responsible for the iterative release schedule and feature prioritization.
- Leads client involvement initiatives and early adopter programs.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
Eight + years’ of Software or Industry Experience.
Minimum five years’ of product owner/ management experience.
Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with management and on-site associates, and manage all associates in a manner conducive to a positive team environment.
Strong leader and motivator; experience working in a dynamic and fluid environment.
A Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major applicable to this role (i.e. Business Administration, Communications, etc.). Graduate Degree preferred.
This position requires travel to various locations in support of company and product goals. This includes trade shows, user groups, and client sites as appropriate.
Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
• Preference will be given to applicants with experience within the K12 arena.
• Scrum Master or PMI Certification or MBA.
