VMware is looking for a Senior Manager of Engineering who is interested in joining our Outbound and Benchmark Development Performance Team that is responsible for outbound performance publications, tier-1 partner interactions, and new benchmark development. You will manage a team that owns tier-1 application performance, develops benchmarks for virtualized and cloud environments, and works with a wide range of partners to demonstrate the excellent performance of VMware products. The team is also working on hyper-converged infrastructures, enablement of tier-1 applications, big data and cloud-native applications, and vMotion performance. You will manage a high performing engineering team that is deeply technical, dynamic, agile, dedicated and innovative. You will be driving projects across many cross functional teams and having an impact on large number of products and people. You will be defining new processes to ensure that performance remains fundamental as VMware expands to new markets and technologies. You will work in fast paced environment. You will participate in many innovative projects, with the authority and scope to apply your expertise in a technically driven environment. Responsibilities
Set performance goals in close collaboration with performance, development, product management and marketing
Collaborate with performance engineering teams from partner companies
Prioritize the tasks and communicate to all stake holders
Ensure team is aligned to common goals
Set goals for each individual and mentor them
Communicate with all stakeholders and team members and provide updates, perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
Requirements
A Computer Science or related master1s degree
10+ Years of industry experience
Experience with performance benchmarks and methodology
Excellent verbal communication, analytical skill and critical thinking.
Strong leadership skills
Capable of architecting/understanding complex software solutions
Strong Communication skills
Developing visioning skills and ability to see the big picture
Passion to mentor and build a high performance team
Desired Skills
Experience working in large-scale systems
Strong background in operating system internals and computer architecture
Strong background in application performance
