Media Director - UM Worldwide - Los Angeles
Job description
UM has an opportunity for Media Director to work on a large home entertainment account. The Media Director should demonstrate guidance and leadership in all areas of media with an emphasis on developing strategic direction for clients; and, acting as a liaison between clients and agency to shepherd goals, directives, strategies, and media budgets. The Media Director will be accountable for the quality and delivery of all work requested by and provided to client VP, Media.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates full understanding of clients’ businesses.
Provides planning team with client perspectives, insights, goals, and strategies for all plans and key initiatives.
Builds and maintains solid client relationships in order to effectively communicate ideas and contribute to positive client/agency partnership.
Confers with clients to establish media goals, objectives, and strategies for advertising campaigns, as well as to set expectations and deadlines.
Works closely with group media supervisors to set achievable deadlines and manage process of plan/recommendation development.
Establishes and maintains effective communications and working knowledge with national and local senior buyers, interactive, and retail groups to facilitate effective buys and manage inventory.
Review/Approve media plans with individual groups prior to presentation to media director.
Develops clear, concise presentations for upper management client media meetings.
Presents media plans to upper management clients and communicates necessary revisions to supervisors for timely plan approval and implementation.
Proactively identifies and evaluates new opportunities to support clients’ business.
Responsible for the development and augmentation of procedures that establish quality control and consistency of all materials provided to the client.
Along with director, identifies and develops promising personnel; as well as evaluates and communicates planning staff development needs in terms of rotation and promotion to ensure high quality personnel.
Maintains familiarity with the history, present status and procedures of the client, as well as with conditions in the industry.
Responsibility to supervise, advice, and counsel the group in all daily account activities.
Is at all times alert to new media and new methods of using existing media and new developments, and shares with the planning group of such developments.
Motivates and encourages planning group on innovation and creativity throughout all projects by serving as a role model within the group / team.
Stays abreast of UM planning tools and research studies.
Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree required
Strong interpersonal skills
Familiar with research tools
Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
Strong broadcast TV experience and/or integrated experience
Required Experience
7 - 10+ years of media planning experience required
3+ years of management experience
Entertainment category experience preferred, but not essential
