Director - Corporate and Foundation Relations, Engineering - New York University - New York
Job description
The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) for the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering is a member of the senior leadership team within the NYU Department of Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR). Supported by a Development Officer, the Director will take the lead in raising corporation and foundation revenue for all School of Engineering projects and programs by managing his or her portfolio of high-end (six- and seven-figure potential) institutional prospects.
The Director, expected to raise the majority of institutional funding secured by the CFR team, will advance the School of Engineeringâ??s interests by developing broad expertise and knowledge about all School of Engineeringâ??s programs and funding priorities. They will research and identify key sources of institutional support; develop deep knowledge about prospective donorsâ?? interests and guidelines; develop and implement sophisticated and dynamic cultivation strategies for those donors; and generating the highest quality proposals and other fundraising materials to secure grants and gifts. Additionally, the Director will increase the number of secured gifts, will develop plans to increase corporate and foundation support from new sources, and will oversee all stewardship activities in order to maintain strong communication ties with donors and prospects. Finally, the Director will maintain mutually respectful and productive relationships and partnerships with NYU colleagues and faculty members throughout the School of Engineering and within select NYU schools and institutes.
Desired Skills and Experience
More than 7+ years working in a leadership position in foundation and corporate fundraising department at a college or university and/or appropriate and equivalent experience including a proven track record in bringing in six-figure and seven-figure contributions.
10+ years development experience in an institution of higher education, preferably in a school of engineering, technology, or the sciences.
Exceptional writing and communication skills. Must be extremely well organized, deadline-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work under deadline. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment, manage conflicting priorities and coordinate multiple tasks, work with highly confidential information, and interact with diverse constituents. A willingness to travel as needed, and to work during evenings and weekends when required. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Power Point. Familiarity with Advance is a plus. Demonstrated integrity, positive attitude, and a sense of humor. Commitment to the mission and vision of NYU School of Engineering and New York University.
