As a Development Director (DD), you’ll be responsible for the all operational aspects of an assigned portion of our development team, including establishing and maintaining development framework, reporting, risk management, capacity planning and resource management.
You’ll be driving planning and execution for projects on a cross-functional development team to build and ship new content, features, games and site improvements.
This is a leadership role that involves a high level of interaction with Pogo’s senior leadership team, team members, peers, and product leadership. DDs focus on the how and who – planning outcomes, solving problems, and making things work (or work better). You’ll develop, maintain, and drive the project schedule from start to finish, while making sure the path is clear of obstacles for your team.
You’ll also be a part of a production team, that aims to learn and grow while executing on all our goals, as individuals and as a team.
As a Development Director, your responsibilities include:
Work with project leadership to define the strategy to execute against milestones and key deliverables.
Create project schedules that maximize feature quality and scope within resource, financial, and development partner constraints
Anticipate bottlenecks and risks, provide management escalation, project prioritization, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and drive the process forward
Validate and track task length, skill requirement, and dependencies along with team velocity
Drive efficiencies and new ways of thinking with a goal of reducing waste and increasing predictability.
Drive execution from concept to live (estimates, tasks, change requests, bugs)
Act as scrum master for a cross-functional development team(s)
Provide strong leadership for the team, inspire and motivate the team through personal example, enthusiasm, integrity, and dedication
Ensure the team has the best organizational structure, processes and practices that allow them to produce high quality work efficiently on time and on budget.
Train the team on best practices, processes, and standards as needed
Develop, maintain and publish project KPI’s that track project quality, delivery and predictability.
Establish regular communication with team and key stakeholders to provide project status updates.
Manage communication with external partners

The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of project operations acquired from a minimum of 5+ years relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in building relationships and working with cross-functional teams
Sound decision-making based on analysis and judgement
Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization
Strong negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent written and verbal communication and possesses strong emotional intelligence skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - able to work on complex problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
Effective communication skills; able to influence outcomes across all levels of contributors, whether within Pogo or the EA Mobile organization.
The next great EA Development Director also needs:
Game development experience (Casual gaming or mobile gaming preferred)
Experience in working with teams over multiple geographical locations
Familiarity with Pogo.com and EA’s mobile products
Project management certifications or training
A history of working in online services
