Director Global Medical Communications Amgen Thousand Oaks

Reporting to the Executive Director of Global Medical Communications, the successful candidate will lead the Cardiovascular and Neuroscience team to develop and execute the medical communication strategy and plan, including the creation of high-quality global core content (GCC) to communicate Amgen science in these disease states. GCC includes, but is not limited to, the development of scientific and medical communication resources such as slide decks, clinical/scientific FAQs, medical information letters, literature surveillance, and scientific strategy and content at major global congresses. The Global Medical Communications team works closely with cross-functional and cross-geographic partners, including Global Publications, the Global Medical Affairs Leads (GMAL) and Clinical Development to inform and execute medical strategies.
Key Responsibilities:

Contribute to global product medical strategy through scientific expertise, generation of clinical insights, and understanding appropriate channels for delivery of medical and scientific educational content.
Lead the team to develop the annual plan and execute the global medical communication strategy for the therapeutic areas.
Ensure global input, appropriate prioritization of needs, and resource allocation to meet program goals on time and within budget. Understand global regulatory landscape and apply expertise to development of scientific resources.
Manage team to develop and lead execution of Global Core Content to be used in medical communication strategies including:
Slide decks (disease state and product), Med Info content (including FAQs), congress content/deliverables and booth assets, non-IME educational events (ex-US), online content, mechanism of action videos, and graphic arts
Manage team responsible for responding to global, complex Med Info escalations (ex-US only)
Drive and/or support strategy and scientific content development for major scientific meetings and global advisory boards
Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional colleagues. Enhance global collaboration within department and across departments. Create strong links with global/regional/local medical affairs teams.
Recruit and retain high-performing & empowered staff. Actively support and enhance the career development of employees within Global Medical Communications.
Ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
Analyze medical literature to inform medical strategies and tactics. Provide scientific support to other Amgen departments.
Manage project-associated budgets and multiple vendors
Approximately 10-20% travel
