Role Summary The Managing Director, Talent Acquisition and On-Boarding creates and implements a strategic and progressive talent acquisition strategy with full executive buy-in and participation to ensure that Alaska recruits the strongest talent to power growth and strategy implementation. To meet the aggressive growth trajectory of the business, this role requires building and scaling talent acquisition teams across multiple locations and areas of specialty, as well as enhancing internal processes and systems, leveraging market insight to drive employer branding initiatives and partnering closely with senior leadership to plan innovative organizational growth strategies (workforce planning). This senior leadership role will provide thought leadership, creativity and excitement to establish excellent recruiting processes, on-boarding programs and a phenomenal candidate experience.
This position requires an effective, consultative partnership with company business leaders to assist in developing work force plans and executing effective talent acquisition strategies, along with strong cross-functional partnerships in order to understand the unique requirements of each organization and the talent landscape. This role requires a leader who can see, evaluate and improve the talent acquisition function at both the strategic and operational levels.

Scope & Complexity

This senior leadership role directs talent acquisition and on-boarding initiatives for Alaska Air Group (AAG) and its subsidiaries. The shared services responsibilities for this role span several areas, making it responsible for: a strong employment brand, ensuring the company has an effective pilot and maintenance hiring programs, and advancing the culture of hiring top talent.
Key Duties

Creates and drives implementation of Talent Acquisition strategy for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air with a strong focus on attracting top-tier diverse talent and building a high-quality talent pipeline.

Partners with People Team leaders on overarching People strategy and corporate business goals.

Creates a vision and direction for the Talent Acquisition and On-boarding departments.

Leads organizational planning; creates goals and business plans for the department; defines organizational priorities; and leads the development and implementation of performance metrics.

Seeks and applies research, best practices, and innovative approaches to advance the company?s recruiting strategy.

Utilizes and leverages data and analytics, drives the narrative of our recruiting status and influence change.

Hires, retains and continually develops diverse, high caliber talent acquisition professionals who are able to contribute positively to the organization.

Leads the team to achieve or exceed department goals by leveraging resources and by driving a continual focus on best practices and a deeper understanding of the business.

Monitors direction and growth of the business; develops a pipeline of talent for key skills to meet current and future needs for departments.

Forges strong relationships with divisional leaders and People Team members by listening, understanding needs, defining shared objectives, proactively consulting, and collaborating to meet organization Talent Acquisition and On-Boarding goals.

Applies appropriate metrics, processes, technologies, decision-making and recording-keeping to Talent Acquisition and On-Boarding processes to ensure appropriate use of resources, performance against goals and effectiveness of strategy.

Develops relationships and maintains partnerships with professional associations, alumni groups and other public organizations to identify and source qualified candidates.

Continuously innovates Alaska Air Group employer branding, sourcing, social media, campus recruiting and employee referral programs.

Partners with Marketing to ensure that the inspiring mission, vision and culture of Alaska Air Group is showcased on all external facing social media communications and careers page.

Job-Specific Skills & Education Required

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 7 years of developing and implementing high impact strategies cross functionally.

A minimum of 7 years of effective leadership experience.

Must possess a passion for developing a high performing diverse workforce, fostering a strong culture, and designing talent management and learning strategies

A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree or a related discipline. Internal applicants must be willing to complete their bachelor's degree within an agreed upon timeframe.

Strategic leader who thrives in a fast moving customer focused environment.

Deep experience designing and executing large and small scale programs, as well as managing projects and deadlines simultaneously and seamlessly adapting to evolving business priorities.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, improve and innovate business processes.

Proven change management skills and a thirst for applying research and best practices to existing business problems.

Excellent organizational interpersonal, leadership and customer service skills.

High energy, positive and executive-level presence along with top-notch written and verbal communication, public speaking, influence and motivational skills.

Proven ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to position Talent Acquisition and On-Boarding organization as a change agent and key business partner.

Strong influencing and negotiation skills with an ability to drive alignment amongst leaders and peers at all levels in the organization.

Excellent partnering skills: works collaboratively, effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers and other stakeholders.

Deep understanding of employment law and compliance

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Minimum age of 18.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
