The Regional Director of Sales directs and leads the efforts of a national sales force within a region and manages relationships with partner sales forces. They are responsible for demonstrating value added solutions using a strategic selling approach and directing the account management efforts to ensure maintenance of existing business while also identifying new business opportunities (business development). Responsible for driving sales to achieve or exceed overall annual sales revenue goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for market development, setting targets and insuring revenue is generated. Develop and implement sales strategies and tactical sales plans and programs to achieve targeted revenue goals in both new and existing accounts. Manage and direct District Business Development Managers to ensure that strategically important sales goals are achieved. Coordinate with the Head of Sales in developing effective marketing strategies. Responsible for effective team staffing, performance management, coaching and mentoring of staff to ensure the development of requisite sales and management skills. Lead their team in development of account-specific strategies to profitably grow and maintain the business. Provide guidance to team to ensure successful implementation of sales plans and strategies. Work to develop approaches that minimize handling of obstacles. Explore new technologies and creative sales programs to improve competitive advantage. Initiate and strengthen relationships with major accounts and strategic partners. Ensure high quality client servicing and customer satisfaction. Ensure integration of sales efforts with marketing and service efforts. Responsible for regional budget and expenses.
Requirements
Must possess extensive experience managing remotely located sales professionals and have a track record of proven success in sales.
Ability to combine strategic thinking with sound execution.
Need to demonstrate a flexible approach in a team environment and have a sharp eye for opportunity.
Strong analytical and computer skills a must.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
Excellent customer service, communication and decision making/problem solving skills.
Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, constantly evolving team environment.
Travel is required.
Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook a must.
