Job Description
Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor for Research, this position will support research for the UTHSC community by directing and operating the new-Proteomics and Metabolomics Core facility.
Duties And Responsibilities
Advises investigators on experimental design, performing mass spectrometry for high-throughput proteomics and metabolomics, and the analysis of mass spectrometry datasets.
Communicate with investigators, performing the experiments regarding necessary quality controls.
Consults on experimental design and statistical approaches.
Directs, develops, and designs experiments to meet project development goals.
Performs experiments on the mass spectrometer and assists investigators on data interpretation.
Conducts Proteomic and Metabolomic studies on a sophisticated Thermo Orbitrap Lumos Mass Spectrometer.
Plans, interfaces, and manages of internal and external resources for development and testing.
Formulates long-range operating plans, budgets and programs to support facility objectives.
Provides educational and informational seminars to the community about proteomics and metabolomics.
Performs other duties as necessary.
PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field; five (5) years’ related work experience to include prior experience managing/directing a Proteomic or Proteomic/Metabolomic Core Facility. Must possess excellent communications skills with the ability to interact with diverse faculty, staff, executives and leaders of other organizations
including universities, federal and state entities and regulatory agencies. Must be organized, a self-starter, and be able to multi-task
and adhere to deadlines under pressure.
