Program Engagement Director Greenpeace Washington

The Program Engagement Director plays a key leadership role in the program department of Greenpeace US (GPUS) and is responsible for ensuring a supporter engagement focus is embedded in all of the department’s work. They will do this by leading the development and implementation of strategies designed to engage supporters, helping to develop engagement-centric campaign projects, and directing the day-to-day work of the grassroots and digital departments. The Director should be a highly skilled, passionate and innovative leader with extensive management and organizing experience. The Director will creatively guide GP US’s efforts to build our base of supporters across all facets of our program work in order to build long-term capacity to shift the balance of power away from corporations and into the hands of people.
Responsibilities:

Work as part of a senior leadership team dedicated to dramatically increasing both the broadening and deepening of our supporter base and deepening the relationship between GP and those supporters;
Ensure the development of an overarching engagement strategy for the organization in collaboration with the Program Director, Executive Director, Development Director and other senior leaders
Work in collaboration with other leaders in program to ensure that all aspects of our program work reflect a focus on building our base of supporters;
Provide strategic direction to and ensure successful implementation of engagement strategies for campaign projects;
Oversee the coordination of volunteers and development of activism opportunities for supporters through a variety of channels including innovate ways to open GPUS to our supporters;
Supervise Grassroots and Digital managers, setting high-level direction for the two teams composed of 30+ staff;
Support Digital and Grassroots teams as well as the rest of the program teams in fundraising goals and integration of the Program and Fundraising departments.
Develop and oversee deep audience understanding techniques, listening and segmentation protocols across campaign projects (in collaboration with Development and Supporter Insights Team);
Helps the Program Director to foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the staff of the program department so everyone participates in recruiting and retaining supporters, building our power and resources;
Serve as a liaison to mobilization and engagement leaders across Greenpeace’s 27 national and regional offices;
Provide leadership and overall strategic direction to the GPUS program;
Mentor and develop leaders on the team, at all levels.
Qualifications:

At least 7 years experience managing staff;
At least 5-7 years managing volunteer/supporter engagement programs;
At least 5 - 7 years experience with digital engagement, including experience in connecting online and on-land organizing;
Strong budgeting, analytical, and organizational skills;
Experience directing large, national or international projects across multiple locations;
Adept at leading highly-skilled, diverse and remote teams;
Track record of successfully developing and leading innovative projects;
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams, set and review goals, and assess risks and outcomes;
Strong interpersonal skills with experience in cross-cultural settings and global experiences;
Deep commitment to the organization’s values on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion;
