The Senior Director, Business Management (North America / Latin America) will provide direct support to both the Chief Operating Officer and the Global Head of Business Management (GHBM), acting both as a Chief of Staff to the COO and having primary day-to-day accountability for connecting COO functions and the execution of key COO deliverables in North America.

Oversight and execution and governance of the IT Operating Model on behalf of the COO will be a key accountability. This will include ensuring the consistency and quality of IT Service deliverables from the Corporate IT function and the monitoring of SLAs and KPIs that define and measure service delivery. In addition it will oversee the suite of KPIs and metrics across the Chief Operating Office and coordinate the production of content for multiple reporting channels. This process will integrate tightly with the introduction of lean management processes and tools into the operating office with problem solving and continuous improvement being key elements.
The position requires someone who is able to operate independently with minimal supervision and with highly developed communications, problem solving and decision making skills. Experience working in a global business environment and directly with senior executives is an important competency.
Key Responsibilities:
Execution of Chief-of-Staff initiatives on behalf of the COO and GHBM. These will range from strategic initiatives (such as location strategies) than span multiple geographies and other special products as required with a specific focus on the effective functioning, collaborating and connection of Chief Operating Office functions.
Oversight and governance of Operating Models. Operating models are increasingly used as part of an overall management system within S&P Global Ratings that govern how different functions and performed and define the decision making process. This accountability is to ensure the operating models are operating as intended, there is the appropriate rigor around governance processes and management information (such as KPIs) is acted upon on a timely basis.
KPIs and reporting. The position will be responsible for the execution, governance and monitoring of the KPIs and metrics for all functions within the Chief Operating Office including IT. This includes the analysis, reporting and follow-up of specific results along with coordination and production of monthly reporting. In addition, responsibilities will include the production of monthly business reports, dashboards and scorecards.
Presentations and business analysis. The position will directly support the COO and GHBM in the production of ad-hoc presentations (including board, executive committee), reports, strategic planning and business analysis as required. This will require coordination across multiple functions to gather analyze and synthesize information for executive audiences.
Proxy for the Global Head of Business Management. Based in New York, this position will act as a proxy for the London-based Global Head of Business Management from time-to-time as required. This will include decision-making and communications, liaison and problem solving across COO functions and representation on various operating committees and meetings.
Functional & Business Knowledge:
The position requires a strong understanding of the S&P Global Ratings business model, structure and global network to be successful. Experience in senior positions within IT, Operations or Data will be important attributes.
Key competencies required:
10+ years of experience in Global Financial Services
10+ years of experience in Operations, Technology and/ or Program Management
8-10 years in a management/ supervisory role
Bachelor's and Master's (MBA or MS) degrees required
Advanced problem solving skills. Able to quickly identify and understand issues and drive towards effective resolution.
Highly developed skills in influencing and navigating a complex, global organization to senior executive level.
Advanced communication skills – both written and oral. This includes the ability to simplify complex concepts and messages to the essential components and deliver these effectively to a wide range of audiences.

Experience working on IT projects in a variety of roles and the technical knowledge to understand the nature of IT Services.
Ability to build credibility and relationships across multiple teams.
Develop a strong working knowledge of the workings of all functions within the Operating Office and the broader Ratings business.
Ability to hold a position and have difficult conversations in the face of adversity and resistance. Being prepared at all times to speak up and hold people to account for their actions and responsibilities.
Experience with managing staff and providing direction ideally from remote locations (potential future requirement).
Business Knowledge:
Detailed and in-depth knowledge of the S&P Global Ratings business including the analytical and support processes.
Experience and a sound understanding of IT including program management. IT development lifecycles and methodologies (including Agile) and change management.
Background in financial services, ideally within the debt capital markets.
A sound understanding and ideally experience in performance measurement, KPIs, 6-sigma and/or lean management.
