We are seeking an experienced tax professional with a background in alternative investment products to lead our Alternatives Products Tax Team. Qualified candidates should be technically proficient in alternatives products, including partnership and international taxation, should have tax structuring and planning experience, be capable of balancing commercial and tax risks to make effective decisions and should be able to demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts. Candidates should possess strong communication, organizational and analytical skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

•Lead and oversee tax-related services for assigned alternative investment products, including hedge funds, private equity funds, fund of funds, credit, infrastructure and other structured products.
•Identify, research, and resolve tax issues associated with new products, financial instruments, investment strategies, and acquisition and disposition transactions.
•Lead partnerships with the business and other advisors to provide tax due diligence and structuring advice on prospective products and transactions to minimize tax leakage and provide optimal structures for a diverse investment and investor base.
•Lead the Alternatives Products Tax Team to establish best practices and ensure that tax policies are adhered to and applied consistently across various products.
•Manage relationships with and oversee the work of external tax service providers.
•Provide tax support for new product development and structuring, reorganizations and liquidations.
•Provide tax support and consultation to various departments throughout the firm.
•Lead tax activities supporting various alternative investment products in several different locations.
Candidate Profile:
•Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required; Masters Degree in Taxation, CPA, or JD/LLM required.
•8+ years of tax experience in the investment management industry with emphasis on alternative products. Meaningful experience with private asset funds/investments desirable, including structuring and planning.
•Previous experience with an asset manager, law firm, Big 4 accounting firm, and/or fund administrator.
•Experience in the taxation and structuring of cross-border investment transactions.
•Proficient in the taxation of partnerships and financial instruments.
•Ability to work with teams and functions located in multiple locations.
•Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; strong leadership and communication skills (both oral and written), including with non-tax teams.
•Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
