SP Routing is at the forefront of developing the platforms and applications which drive Cisco’s Wireless product portfolio. The CTO of Engineering in Wireless Business Entity will be an action-oriented, disruptive, and innovative leader responsible for the software architecture, engineering, integration and innovation for Access Points, Wireless LAN Controller, CMX, APIC-EM and Prime Infrastructure Products. The role is based in Cisco’s San Jose (California) headquarters campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Individual must be an architect, a thinker, a researcher, a tester and a tinkerer

• Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that supports or impede the success of the business

• Drive Standards bodies(IEEE, etc) in protocols and specifications that will enable to have advantage to Cisco’s Intellectual Property and Products. Be the voice of Cisco in these Standards bodies to influence Cisco Wireless Innovations and make them part of the upcoming IEEE Standards

• Partner with like-minded Companies to form strategic alliances to help drive Cisco’s Innovations to market place, both from Client side and Cisco’s Infrastructure side.

• Partner with cross-functional core stakeholders within both engineering, product management and field teams to lead the technology direction, facilitate key technical decision points, and take the architecture specifications into working engineering outcomes

• Interface with multiple engineering groups in Cisco, who are responsible for developing the infrastructure and products that define a complete wireless solution.

• Commit to road maps with capabilities and timelines, with a proven track of product development delivered on time with quality.

• Align technology to business strategy, and proactively drive a technical direction throughout the organization

• Manage a geographically dispersed team consisting of both full time and contract employees and senior level technical individuals

• Document and comply with quality processes following a CI/CD methodology

Requirements


• 5+ years in a related role in driving technology direction for product line/company

• 5+ years in Service Provider Routing and related products

• 15+ years’ proven experience in software engineering leadership roles

• Experience in influencing in Standard bodies(like IEEE) and technology direction of the company

• Strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with proven experience around design concepts, development, integration, testing, etc

• Ability to attract talent, inspire the organization, and develop the next generation of leaders

• Ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with peers, stakeholders, and partners both internal and external to Cisco

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical influencing, conflict management, negotiation, public presenting

• Full commitment to customer satisfaction and the highest ethical standards

• Identify and drive innovation in Cisco products, services, solutions, technologies, and processes

• Strong business acumen and industry insight, thought leadership

• Leadership skills to include coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development

• Thorough understanding of scale-out software architectures for on premises and cloud hosted environments across all layers (infrastructure, security, compliance, operations, and software life cycle management)
