Director Corporate Strategy Rovi Corporation San Carlos

Rovi is looking for a high performing Director of Strategy to help Rovi set direction and answer the most critical strategic questions with sound and comprehensive analysis and planning.
Role:
Reporting to the VP of Strategy, the Director of Strategy will serve as key member of the strategy team and will be responsible for assisting in defining strategic vision and strategic planning, working with various teams to execute on long range strategic plans.
The Corporate Strategy team shapes the strategic direction of the company, with a strong focus on driving profitable growth. The team serves as advisors to company leaders and addresses the key questions facing senior management, the board, and the company’s operating units. The team is also responsible for shaping the company’s strategic plans, anticipating opportunities and threats, and prioritizing strategic initiatives and investments. Projects are typically highly analytical in nature, range in duration from 1 week - 6 months, and include close collaboration with Product, Marketing, Sales and Operations groups. The Director will be expected to lead complex projects immediately upon joining.

Role requires:
Distinctive strategic problem solving and quantitative analysis skills, including experience in structuring high level strategic issues into concrete analyses with actionable conclusions.
The ability to develop strong working relationships with other business functions quickly, to operationalize key strategic initiatives.
The skills and experience to influence senior management decision makers.
The ability to direct cross functionally when you do not have direct management authority over resources.

Accountabilities:
Work with colleagues in Strategy, Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations etc. to conduct research and analysis to generate hypotheses, recommendations and plans.
Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis of entertainment technology and service Prepare and present documents summarizing the results of the analyses and the strategic recommendations/planning.
Modeling market, competitive, customer, financial, operations and human resource data to develop long term views of trends (historic and forecast) to support strategic decision making (in collaboration with BU’s, Ops, Marketing, Finance and HR)
Identify market trends, competitive landscape, and ROVI product dynamics to highlight productivity improvements, growth opportunities and new markets
Candidate is responsible for delivery of briefings, analysis, and recommendations to senior and executive staff.
Work independently to perform strategic and financial analyses.

Key Capabilities:
3+ years of experience in a top-tier strategy consulting firm or corporate strategy group, with 1-3 years as an engagement/project manager.
A record of success and top-tier achievement in prior education and work experiences, including distinctive strategic problem solving and quantitative analysis capabilities.
A record of success in translating strategic guidance into operational initiatives and subsequently driving those initiatives.
Ability to diagnose strategic, operational and financial drivers of performance results
M&A analysis: Including, market canvas, comparative analysis and strategic rational
Strong financial analysis and analytical skills; a blend of corporate and consulting.
Ability to see the ‘big picture’ and apply a strategic perspective
Ability to structure work and effectively lead a matrix team to a common goal
Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to implement change
Strong communication skills and executive presence
Strong financial analysis background

Role Qualifications:
8 - 10 years of combined industry and consulting experience, with emphasis on corporate strategy and M&A.
A technical, economics or business undergraduate degree and an MBA or relevant graduate degree in business discipline from a top 20 US or international school
A depth of knowledge across Media, Entertainment & Technology is required.
Experienced track record of successful relationship building in a Fortune 500, Investment Banking or Consulting environment
Experience in product management or technical fields are also a plus.
The successful candidate will have good business judgment; have an open communication style, and a willingness and ability to work with teams in a multi-threaded, dynamic environment.
The ability to shift from theoretical to pragmatic and operational is essential.
The willingness and ability to roll up their sleeves and dig into the numbers.
A high degree of raw analytic horsepower, logical reasoning ability, and curiosity. He or she will be creative with a practical approach and have an intuitive feel for applying numbers, sense of proportion and appropriate orders of magnitude.
Team building, and the ability to listen and be perceptive of others are critical personality attributes, as is a hands-on, high energy, can-do, collaborative work style.
He or she will regard solution building for ROVI through teaching and learning, as integral to the role.
Written & Verbal Presentation - Ability to simply communicate complex concepts.
The ability to travel 25% of the time supporting the business in all locations.
