Job Description:
Weather Underground is looking for a passionate director of its software engineering and systems design and implementation. This engineer would
help developers design reliable code and systems to scale and working in an automated environment. The engineer would also improve the design and implementation of current Weather Underground architecture as it migrates from a traditional data center environment into AWS.
Responsibilities:
+ collaborate with team developers to design and implement Weather Underground backend systems
+ mentor software engineers to build performant and reliable backends to support Weather Underground products
+ direct the transition of the Weather Underground platform into AWS
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
experience in system design in Linux
experience in Linux command line environment skills
experience insoftware development skills in C/C++, BASH, PHP, and Python
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
+ ability to work at our office in San Francisco at least 3 days per week
+ strong experience leading/mentoring software developers
+ expert in designing software platforms for HTTP endpoints with database (SQL and NOSQL) and file-store backends in linux
+ strong skills with MySQL, REDIS, NFS, and similar data structure tools
