Summary
Ensures revenue and profit growth of the Oil & Gas/SEPC region by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Provides expert-level operational knowledge of rating and routing of government contractor, construction, oil field, mining and other production machinery to and from supplier plants and customer sites around the world via air, sea and ground modes of transport.
Provides expert-level operational knowledge of export packing, crating and materials management requirements that are unique to construction, oil field, mining and other production machinery, as well as government-owned/impelled transportation.
Provides expert-level operational support for over-the-road route planning of too high/too wide cargo transport.
Prospects, targets, solicits and manages the Oil & Gas/SEPC forwarding opportunities of oil & gas companies, government contractors, engineering & constructor firms, mining companies and power generation companies for the construction of new infrastructure and the operational support and re-supply of same.
Works with UPS SCS region counterparts to support timely and competitive responses to requests for information, requests for proposal and spot quotations on Oil & Gas/SEPC opportunities and to support Oil & Gas/SEPC air, ground and sea shipments from new and existing UPS customers.
Travels and works with UPS personnel to prospect, target and solicit oversized, “permit load” air, ground and sea shipments from new and existing UPS customers.
Provides annual revenue forecasts to manager.
Responsible for meeting/exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and GRATE forecast.
Publishes weekly sales activity report, quarterly target report and quarterly administrative priority report.
Occasional travel to oversee complex loading/off-loading of complex or high value cargoes.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 10 or more years related experience in an transportation/logistics environment involving Oil & Gas/SEPC-oriented cargo; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred, or three (3) years experience with UPS required
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, interpret and write reports, business correspondence and proposals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customer; Ability to speak and write in language(s) in addition to English preferred, but not essential.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages,
area, circumference, and volume; Ability to apply concepts beyond basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER ABILITIES Strong working knowledge of import/export documentation, letters of credit, incoterms and countries requiring pre-inspection and certification would be helpful. Exposure to transportation engineering would be helpful.
