Director Product Marketing Detection Suppression Systems Siemens Florham Park

Job Description:
Siemens Building Technologies is looking for a Director of Product Management and Marketing for their Florham Park, NJ location. This person will direct all product management and marketing activity related to the Siemens UL Fire Safety Detection & Suppression Systems product portfolio – which are marketed globally. This role will lead a team of Product Managers and an operational portfolio management team in the development, support and sales the Siemens UL Fire Product portfolio. This person will report to CPS Fire Segment UL Head and they will have 11 members on the team comprising of product managers, technical writer, SAP coordinator, pricing coordinator and an electronic documentation coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Directs all product management and marketing activity related to products assigned in the UL Fire Safety Detection & Suppression Systems market globally. Supervises Product Managers in the development of annual business plans for their assigned product lines. Coordinates the development of marketing launch and ongoing support objectives and strategies, and works to ensure divisional sales and profit objectives are achieved. Interfaces with marketing communications and sales for advertising and promotional programs. Ensures timely execution of programs. Develops and directs implementation of marketing strategies, portfolio strategies and business plans for the UL Fire Safety Detection & Suppression Systems market globally. Improves marketability by researching, identifying and capitalizing on UL Fire System market opportunities globally. Performs staff management and administrative responsibilities of: recruitment, performance evaluation, mentoring, skills development, disciplinary actions and salary management. Manages staffing and budgetary requirements to ensure organizations effectiveness. Sets department performance standards and ensures process adherence. Coordinates new UL Fire System Detection & Suppression product development with research and development organization locally and globally. Co-directs Product Steering Groups meetings with Product Management and Engineering leadership locally & globally. Provides continuous flow of competitive information and analysis on Fire Detection & Suppression UL systems markets domestically and globally, on Siemens portfolio and competitors portfolios to the sales organization and segment and business leadership. Coordinates channel activities with the sales organization to assure coverage of geographic and target markets. Directs development and implementation of market specific pricing strategies for all markets globally selling UL Fire Safety Systems to meet sales growth and profit targets. Anticipates future market opportunities by staying abreast of new technologies and industry trends, ensuring customer requirements, growing markets needs, and competitive strengths and weaknesses – to be implemented in portfolio and marketing strategies. Monitors and actively participates in industry code bodies to insure the UL Fire Safety product portfolio complies with all regulatory requirements (UL, ULC, FM, etc). Assures marketing and business plans take these factors into consideration. Works with assigned product/marketing managers to develop and provide the sales tools needed to drive sales growth. Directs product management coordination of advertising and promotion activities with marketing communications. Works with Training Technical Support and Applications teams to assure proper training & support resources and programs are in place to support Fire Detection & Suppression product portfolios. Travels to visit customers in all channels on regular basis to assure understanding of product needs, marketing requirements and training and support needs (including conducting regular customer portfolio and market feedback focus groups).
Leads Product Management Team to insure solid market based product requirements with clearly measurable business potential and solid business cases before R&D investments are agreed upon.
Lead team to define product value propositions and market positioning / price positioning and drives sales growth thru strategies and implementation plans to fully exploit current and future portfolio customer benefits.
Leads team defining communication strategies and implementation plans to insure broadest possible market reach is achieved to all channels and served/targeted markets.

All Qualified candidates MUST have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Engineering, MBA preferred
- Minimum ten years experience in field sales and/or marketing staff functions, with a minimum 10 years fire detection industry experience.
- Excellent organization skills, excellent communication skills (both written and spoken), strategic orientation, strong business results & customer orientation.
- Proven team management skills leading a team of at least 6 people.
- Minimum 10 years experience in product portfolio management including new product portfolio launch and introduction and product phase-out.
- Budget planning and management experience – including product pricing and product portfolio margin level management.
- Experience working in a global team environment - collaborating with global PLM and RD organizations domestically and abroad to strategically plan long term product portfolio.
- Strong P.C. skills required for data analysis, report writing, presentations, etc.
- Must be able to travel throughout the U.S and abroad approximately 35% of the time.
