Job Description:
As The Senior Leader Of The North American Marketing Team, Reporting Into The VP Of Global Marketing And Customer Experience For Fisher Scientific, This Individual Is Ultimately Accountable For The Following
Development, implementation, and tracking of marketing strategies and initiatives to drive North American growth for the division. Lead a team of Marketing Managers, Analysts, and Marketing Assistants. Partner with the Marketing operations, Marketing Communications, ebusiness teams, Product Management, Corporate Marketing, and Sales.
Ensure development of annual marketing plans for the relevant customer segments we target for the business. Ensure execution of these plans, with adjustments as necessary as well as metrics and reporting of results in monthly, quarterly and annual business reviews.
Share accountability (with Sales and Product Management teams) for meeting the business’ financial commitments, such as revenue, margin %, share of wallet, new customer wins, and EBITA targets.
Drive the creation, implementation, refresh and use of customer-facing marketing programs and initiatives, to include concepts, tool kits, collateral, communication plans, marketing initiatives, and measurement of results to drive growth and productivity.
Through internal and external sources, maintain awareness and reporting of regional, industry, and technology trends and position us for success in those areas. Identify opportunities and coordinate initiatives to address trends as appropriate.
Ensure the division’s value proposition stays relevant and integrates with the overall Thermo Fisher value proposition, and that it maximizes the power of the assets we have regionally and globally. Ensure collaboration with regional colleagues, the commercial organization, product management and Corporate as appropriate.
Participate in and support the annual strategic planning process for the division by preparing and analyzing market data, understanding and articulating the business strategy, and executing on applicable actions as assigned. Ultimate accountability for North American strategic planning, which is a component of the global strategic plan.
Support the global marketing function in its focus on driving segmentation in all regions; facilitate sharing of best practices in marketing and commercial efforts to address customer needs by segment.
As appropriate and necessary, establish relationships with senior leadership of our top customers in North America to ensure we are positioned to meet the existing and emerging needs of our valued customers and suppliers. This is to be done in conjunction with the appropriate regional, commercial or portfolio management leaders.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience with demonstrated experience in marketing, strategic planning, team/people management, and driving change. An undergraduate degree is required; an MBA or equivalent working experience is strongly preferred.
Prior experience working in large corporate environment or a diversified, complex organization is required.
Prior experience in retail marketing highly desired.
An ability to operate within a matrix structure and build strong relationships; collaborative style with strong leadership skills and a demonstrated commitment to our values.
Effective communicator (verbal, written and presentation), with a demonstrated ability to influence through a straight-forward style of communication.
An ability to think strategically as well as execute and implement.

Moderate travel required.
