Director Process Package Engineering Starbucks Seattle

Job Description:
This job contributes to Starbucks success by leading a team of process and package engineering professionals that support the execution of the global strategic plan for Supply Chain & Coffee Operations (SCCO). This job supports the SCCO strategic plan through the development and delivery of worldwide, multi-year strategies for manufacturing facilities, capital equipment, and capacity plans for roasting and packaging systems. Position fosters the development of team mangers leading departments in the areas of New Technology Development, Worldwide Capacity and Industrial Engineering. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Development of process/packaging system design with an emphasis on safety systems, process model development.
Ability to set a consistent systems design for company process and packaging network to ensure consistent product quality and equipment operation.
Design, develop, and implement leading edge process/packaging systems and tools to maximize existing and newly developed technology.
Lead the technical readiness for processing focused projects and collaborate with others to ensure technological advances in coffee.
Define and conduct process development testing to ensure readiness for production, distribution, and consumer use.
Design and execute process/packaging qualifications for soluble and roasted coffee, juices.
Provide innovative ideas leading to the application of new process/packaging technologies and solving processing/packaging related challenges.
Plan, execute and analyze experimental projects working closely with engineering resources.
Support supply chain optimization.
Lead technical and cross-function teams in the creation and execution of process/packaging initiatives for roast and ground coffee, instant coffee, and juices.

Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Participates in cross-functional teams to drive business unit/department(s) initiatives and programs.
Plans for and supports the introduction of new technologies that improve product quality and overall cost of goods sold.
Supports the development of quality, cost optimization, and capital investment programs that align with the goals and objectives of the organization and department.


Summary Of Experience
General management (5 years)
Strategic plan development and implementation (5 years)
Progressive experience managing varied projects involving capital equipment or technical innovation
Process/Packaging Engineering in a process related industry, preferably a large food company. (7-10 years)
Experience with PSM (Process Safety Management) in a process related industry.
Engineering Degree Desired– Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical.
PMI Experience (Project Management Institute) on large capital projects of at least $2MM.
Experience or knowledge with food thermal processing, (Baking, Frying, Roasting) and packaging engineering design (Flexible, Rigid)
Development of process/packaging system design with an emphasis on safety systems, process model development.
Design, develop, and implement leading edge process/packaging systems and tools to maximize existing and newly developed technology.
