As a key member of the Sabre Travel Network leadership team, the Director of Solutions Design will assume a strategic role in the overall growth and management of the business. Reporting to the TN SVP of Marketing and Strategy, this position will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the product solutions and capabilities that deliver value across the travel ecosystem of suppliers, buyers, and travelers. This role will work closely with the product leaders, regional marketing and product teams, and technology to drive innovation and differentiation that fuels the growth of the Sabre Travel Network globally. In addition to driving the solution strategy, implementation, and commercialization across three solutions (merchandising and personalization, business intelligence and optimization, and efficiency and automation), this role is also responsible for identifying new needs and customer issues that can be solved by innovating through the existing solution sets or by creating a new solution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with Travel Network leadership team to drive execution of TN business priorities.
Understand the needs of all constituents across the travel ecosystem to identify gaps to develop solutions to solve our customers’ needs and drive a platform solution.
Responsible for understanding the existing capabilities, products, and feature functionality of our platform to explore opportunities to create solutions by bundling existing functionality or redeploying existing functionality in a new way.
Actively build network of senior industry contacts, influencers and innovators understand trends to exploit through our solutions.
Project manage key solutions work-streams, often times in collaboration with product, technology, regional marketing and product, and sales.
Leverage resources and relationships across the organization in an effort to focus business leaders on issues of greatest importance to TN and its customers.
Deliver insightful recommendations in a persuasive and thoughtful manner.
Acumen for hiring high performing talent for the current and future needs of the business, and provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports and other staff.
Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in senior product management and/or product marketing roles. The successful candidate will be a strong leader with the conviction to make decisions which impact this dynamic business. The successful candidate will have a high level of intellect, strong listening skills, and be capable of leading executive level discussions with customers and peers. He or she will be accustomed to working within a fast-paced and fluid organization, and capable and comfortable with open and frank dialogue, while dealing with multiple projects at the same time.
The following requirements will guide the hiring process:
10+ years of relevant experience including a successful track record of developing and implementing product and platform solutions based on a needs based, consultative approach combined with market intelligence, competitive analysis and business planning
Ability to apply technology principles to facilitate the solving of complex business problems and to boil complex problems down to simple and understandable terms
Uncompromising integrity, character and intellectual honesty; one who strives to do the right thing and deliver quality results; an executive with the courage and conviction to speak their position
Commercially astute business leader with sound decision making, strategic acumen, process improvement and analytical problem solving capabilities
Strong executive presence and previous experience relating to key customers and articulating company direction, plans and approach, both in one-on-one environments and presenting to larger groups
Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management, with the capability to guide, educate, & influence the thinking of senior decision makers.
Strong internal and external relationship-building and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to work with ambiguity and complex strategic analysis projects
Previous experience with large, geographically-dispersed, multi-functional organizations
Deep experience in technology organization and/or the hospitality industry is a plus.
An undergraduate degree is required. An MBA is preferred.
