Senior Director Consolidation Services Pfizer New York

Job Description
As the Sr. Director, Consolidation Services you will partner with the colleagues in the Controller's and Business Finance organizations to ensure both the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of external financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and the appropriateness of management reporting. This requires not only the development and maintenance of processes to ensure that the appropriate internal controls over financial reporting are in place, but also that our systems and technology are being maximized to meet both external and internal needs.

This position is a key resource to the Corporate Controller in handling consolidated financial reporting, collecting of global data, preparing the consolidated income statement, balance sheets and cash flows, and covering related issues as well as providing management reporting data for use by senior management and business finance. As such, this role connects to the Pfizer imperatives to make the right capital allocation decisions to maximize value and enhance shareholder returns, to create an ownership culture and to earn greater respect from society. It is expected that the role will drive consistent and effective accounting and control procedures, look for ways to maximize the use of technology in external reporting efforts including usage of SMART data and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the SVP & Controller, this position is a member of the Controllers Leadership Team and leads a team of 36 professionals.

Responsibilities
*Responsible for the collection of information necessary for the monthly and quarterly accounting and reporting closes. Ensures the accurate and timely closing and reporting of the Pfizer's consolidated and business unit/division financial results in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
*Responsible for the preparation of and analysis of the consolidated revenues, consolidated income statement and consolidated balance sheet
*Responsible for the preparation of the consolidated statement of cash flow
*Provides leadership for monthly/quarterly close and corporate requests for data to fulfill external reporting requirements. Coordinates the collection of necessary financial information to support analysis requirements for the US and conducts follow up and brings to resolution missing or incomplete information
*Works with the Divisional Controllers, Technical Accounting and Global Financial Solutions (GFS) sites and local markets to obtain data and answer questions
*Works collaboratively with External Reporting to deliver schedules and data electronically where possible
*Maximizes the use of the systems and other technology to facilitate data delivery and maintain accuracy downstream
*Provides leadership on acquisition integration or divestiture activities impacting Consolidations and works with Technical accounting on purchase accounting
*Provides communications to GFS and markets on changes in the consolidation processes or systems.
*Provides ad hoc analysis to management as needed
*Responsible for maintaining the Global Markup Exchange (GMX) process, systems and internal controls, as well as supporting critical relationships with key stakeholder groups (Tax/Transfer Pricing, PGS/GL&S, ERP/SAP, BU Finance)
*Reviews quarterly consolidated results with Controller and CFO

Provide Reporting Expertise
*Provides guidance and expertise to the organization on consolidation accounting issues
*Works with others in the Controller's organization to understand and implement the accounting for acquisitions and divestitures from the initial acquisition through push down to markets and performs integration activities where necessary
*Works with the Controller's organization to ensure that significant business events (acquisitions, divestitures, legal entity or business reorganizations) are appropriately recognized in the financial statements
*Works with the Tax organization to provide data to allow them to compute tax rates and reviews adjustments made to the balance sheet and income statement tax accounts
*Designs and implements standard analytics to understand of key accounts on a quarterly or other basis and review with Senior Management as part of review of financial results
*Works with KPMG to assist them in their quarterly reviews and annual audits of Pfizer's consolidated financial statements
*Provides guidance and council to business and enabling operations related to their reporting needs and assists them in efficiently accessing the data
*Performs analysis of reporting issues and recommends solutions to business finance, OP&A and external reporting constituencies
*Provides support for training relevant colleagues on Pfizer's Oracle EPM environment (HFM, FDM, Essbase) and GMX
*Controls / Compliance
*Responsible for the maintenance of SOX controls
*Maintains accounting and financial reporting, financial control and information systems to ensure adequate records, ensure appropriate authorizations of transactions and safeguard assets

Policy/Process
*Provides oversight to various teams (i.e., BU finance, GFS, etc.) to drive process consistency and efficiency
*Implements Pfizer Accounting Policies and Procedures and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles with direction from the Corporate Controller
*Responds to changes in US GAAP by working with Technical Accounting and External Reporting to understand and implement changes for data collection within the financials and disclosures
*Drives consistent and effective policies and procedures during monthly/quarterly close process
*Responsible for identifying and implementing control and process improvements, simplification measures and automation opportunities in financial processes in conjunction with other groups

Leadership/Management
*Leads team of about 36 colleagues across 2 locations (NY and Collegeville)
*Coaches, mentors and develops key talent within finance
*Provides management oversight for team
*Leads various projects, manages change, and drive improvements
*Ensures training on general accounting principles and changes in company policies is provided as needed

Qualifications
Qualifications / Skills:
*Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
*CPA/Chartered Accountancy required; MBA a plus
*Demonstrated proficiency in US GAAP; good working knowledge of Pfizer Accounting Policies and Procedures is a plus
*Strong analytic skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
*Proficiency with Hyperion Financial Management and Upstream systems

Experience:
*15+ years diversified experience with a solid foundation in accounting, including experience in a leadership role at a global company with pharmaceutical or other manufacturing operations strongly preferred
*Seasoned accounting professional with strong project management skills, strong analytical skills and IT systems (architecture, design, programming, implementation, and maintenance)
*Demonstrated success as a change leader in multinational transformation processes, successfully leading projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement
*Track record of success in financial reporting, global trend changing leadership roles focused on financial analysis and worldwide financial regulatory reporting processes
*Excellent communications skills (written and verbal); ability to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; and experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), and geographies.
*Demonstrated track record of managing corporate controls and driving business results in a complex organization
*Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing talent
*Demonstrated ability to grasp new ideas; work with a "blank sheet of paper" and develop a range of solutions to address issues or capitalize on new opportunities using a balanced view
