This position will help oversee and manage the growth, productivity, and technical capabilities of the engineering team in Radius Chicago. This individual is responsible for the technical and professional development of engineers, proactively contributing to the strategic direction of Radius, growing new and existing clients, and the quality of the firm’s services and deliverables. This position reports directly to the Managing Director in Chicago and will play a critical role in the success of this new office location.
This is a highly visible and dynamic position whose focus will be on Radius site specific and global organizational initiatives;
Oversee the productivity and well-being of the engineering team
Participation in recruiting and hiring new members for the team
Establish and maintain a set of engineering department standards to ensure excellence
Conceptualize ways of providing new and improved value to our customers
Contribute engineering knowledge and experience to product development projects
Maintain a high standard of customer service and professional guidance
Participate in soliciting new customers and manage and nurture existing accounts; especially in the healthcare industry
Promote a culture of pride, passion, and integrity
Manage staff performance reviews and seek out opportunities for professional development
Plan and allocate the manpower of the product development group, matching the capability of the staff to project requirements and assuring that the staff gets a variety of experience and is challenged to exercise their individual skills and abilities
Collaborate with leadership team to create business plans and proposals
Actively participate in business development activity and account management
Educational Background
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred but not required.
PMP is a plus
Minimum Experience
8-10 years of experience as a practicing mechanical engineer
3 to 5 years of experience managing and directing staff
A history of developing products with multi-disciplinary teams (including Industrial Design, Research, Interaction, and Manufacturing)
A history of leading product development teams ideally with exposure to the healthcare industry
A history of participating in the development of products from inception (marketing direction) to production
Experience developing electro-mechanical products
A strong knowledge of injection molding and plastics
Involvement in developing a combination of high volume components/products and mid-complex product assemblies
The timely preparation of accurate, well-planned program proposals and estimates
Experience with medical device development and accompanying regulation protocols
