Job Description
Amazon is looking for a business owner with proven experiences in thought leadership, product management , detailed execution, and people development to define, lead, and develop a suite of features to provide an unrivaled customer experience for businesses using Amazon.com for their procurement needs. Specifically, this leader and his/her team will be responsible for five key areas that will define an excellent business experience on Amazon.com: 1) provide a seamless Amazon like shopping experience that is tailored appropriately for businesses; 2) drive innovation in our existing search and discovery experience to make it relevant for businesses;
3) define and deliver a mobile experience; 4) define and deliver all aspects of customer and product technical support; and 5) ensure high data quality and detailed product content across all business oriented selection on Amazon.com.
The leader will lead his/her team to work with over 30 partner teams across Amazon to appropriately design, resource, and build solutions on time and on budget to meet the needs of millions of Amazon business customers, regardless of size, industry or geography. The scope is global (e.g., business customers purchasing products from our international Amazon marketplaces).
This leader and his/her team will need to speak to a wide range of business customers (size, industry, geography, personas) to understand the various requirements related to the shopping experience (e.g., searching for products, comparing, researching, and buying), how they use mobile devices to assist in shopping and executing procurement processes, and their customer service needs, and work backwards to document customer requirements. He/she will work with partner teams such as Worldwide Customer Service, Search & Browse, Mobile, Global Navigation, and Content and Data Quality teams to ensure that our current platform and processes are modified to meet business customer needs which are different than consumer needs. This role will require thought leadership to drive innovation in search, technical product support, and mobile to differentiate the Amazon business experience versus the B2B industry. The leader will partner with other cross-Amazon initiatives (e.g., Amazon Fresh, Amazon Smiles, Kindle Enterprise, AWS, AmazonLocal, Amazon Payments, etc.) to deliver an integrated solution as needed.
The Director, Amazon Business Shopping Experience, will report to the head of Amazon Business Product Management. This executive will have direct leadership responsibility for a US based team of principal and senior product managers, program managers, and a content team, and as well as indirectly leading a global product team of more than 30 technical product managers, software development engineers, and UX designers. In addition, he/she will influence senior leaders across Amazon (VP+) to ensure that our solutions meet our customers’ needs, and help navigate through redesign of existing systems and underlying algorithms as required. You will push for innovation and not settle for “me too” solutions.
Some qualities that we are looking for: you are results oriented (and have a track record of repeatedly delivering great results); you are an inventor and an innovator (and have already proven it); you have the intellect and horsepower to solve really complex problems (some may say impossible to solve); you are an owner, and do what it takes to make your team successful; you have relentlessly high standards (some may say too high); you are customer obsessed; you operate well in an ambiguous environment; and finally, you have a burning desire to be a part of something really big.
