Director - Enterprise SSD Testing - EPD - Samsung Electronics - San Diego

Job description
The Director of Enterprise SSD Testing will be responsible for managing the Test team that is in charge of qualifications across all of our product lines. This position will have subordinate Managers and Technical Leads responsible for each product reporting to them. This person will be responsible for the overall operation of the Test team, including FW and Product-level testing, managing labs, working directly with the customers, and defining qualification strategy to drive quality of our products.
This is a strategic position that will work with Samsung’s Product Marketing team to gather requirements, plan and execute customer and internal qualifications.
This position may also involve travel to customer sites for strategy meetings.
This person will work closely with the FW team leads to coordinate the efforts and drive the quality of our products.


Responsibilities:
Manage Internal Qualification, Customer Qualification and Test Automation teams
Manage and provide technical guidance to the teams
Lead the Test qualification effort directly with the Customers, Product Marketing, FW Development Engineers, Management, and Architects
Drive testing automation effort
Be able to clearly communicate complex test designs and solutions in clear, concise and easily readable format by both technical and non-technical personnel.
Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project task, activity, documentation, and time information.
Accurately assess the risks as part of the testing process.
Support the development of team members from a professional and technical level.
Be able to travel as necessary.
Perform additional job-related duties as requested.

Desired Skills and Experience
Demonstrated leadership/management skills, attention to detail through prior experience
Test planning and test case design, development and maintenance.
Expertise in automated regression testing tool / test management tool design and execution, in both web and client-server environments.
Working knowledge of application design and development processes, methodologies and standards.
Decision making and problem solving skills and experience with software development projects.
Excellent English communications skills.
Excellent ability to understand and express complex topics.
Ability to recruit, coach, mentor and train personnel within a technical organization.
Education / Experience:
B.Sc. in Computer Science or Engineering, M.Sc. – advantage
10 years of Storage product experience
5 years of hands-on Test Experience
7 years in managerial role
FW experience - advantage
In-depth knowledge of Storage architecture protocols: SAS, SCSI, NVMe
Deep understanding of storage testing.
Familiarity with Enterprise/Data center storage market
