Director - Financial Solutions - Fidelity Investments - Boston


Job description
Fidelity Investments currently has an opening for a Director, Financial Solutions, within its Global Asset Allocation division (GAA). GAA designs and manages diverse investment solutions that help investors achieve their financial goals, and currently manages over $550 billion in portfolios of funds and other financial instruments.


The Financial Solutions group leads GAA's financial planning R&D efforts, engages in the development of investment solutions, as well as the application and implementation of GAA's investment and financial planning methodologies throughout Fidelity in the form of planning and guidance tools and financial planning and retirement thought leadership.

Primary Responsibilities
Work with GAA's Technology, Product Management, Portfolio Support, Quantitative Analysis, Legal, and Compliance teams, as well as with business partners in Fidelity's Asset Management and Distribution organizations.
Lead and consult to initiatives, both large and small, and manage resources as needed; will lead multiple initiatives at once
Research, develop, backtest, and deploy quantitative models for financial planning
Evaluate 3rd-party financial products
Develop new financial products
Conduct investment and financial research
Participate in the creation of research papers
Assist in the creation of Fidelity's investment and financial planning methodologies, points of view, and "we believes

Education and Experience
The successful candidate will have earned an advanced degree in finance, economics, engineering, applied mathematics, law, science, econometrics, or computer science. A CFA and / or a CFP are a plus.
Experience in making presentations and public speaking is a plus.
3 - 5 years relevant financial services experience, post-graduate degree
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with financial planning.
Experience working with investment and client data and databases is a strong plus.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building financial models, particularly in Excel, and Visual Basic for Excel. Experience with SAS, R, Oracle, Bloomberg, and Morningstar tools is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills and demonstrated experience doing quantitative work.
Critical skills in this role include excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to think critically in a demanding environment, and the ability to provide thought leadership.
The candidate must be able to work independently, as part of a team, and with direction from management.
