create seasonal development calendar; manage adherence to deadlines
assess competitive landscape to identify opportunities for future growth and voids within the brand
analyze global sales, feedback and historic data to build seasonal line architecture and long range growth strategies
edit assortment during key development milestones aligning creative vision and business goals
establish seasonal pricing
partner with design and product development to meet category margin targets
liaise with cross-functional teams to execute seasonal assortments from concept to store
liaise with category merchants to build a cohesive lifestyle assortment
lead development milestone meetings, including design reviews, line pricing, line architecture and category presentations
partner with DFO merchants to ensure alignment of product directions
manage and develop direct reports - merchandiser and merchandise data coordinator
uphold brand filter and product integrity


• college degree preferred - with an emphasis on design or merchandising

• 5 - 10 years in positions offering relevant experience

• excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• proficient in windows-based software such as excel and word

• ability to translate creative vision into commercial needs

• elevated taste level

• an understanding of global market and the ability to grasp the cultural and commercial nuances

• must be able to utilize and master internal software systems

• exceptional organizational skills

• strategic planning and competitive analysis abilities

• ability to interact with multiple departments and with employees at all levels

• understanding of the kate spade new york brand

• retail math training

• Minimum 15+ years of Merchandising experience
• Moderate travel - international and domestic
•MS Office (Word, Excel)
