Director - Corporate Tax - Canon USA - Melville


Job description
Canon U.S.A., Inc. is currently seeking a Director, Corporate Tax to join our Corporate Finance and Accounting Division in Melville, Long Island.

Complete responsibility for:
the finalization of all federal, state, and local income tax returns for signature and filing.
all sales, use and property tax filings for Canon USA, Inc.
the finalization of all business license tax returns for signature and filing.

all financial statement data and income tax schedules for the quarterly and year end income tax provisions.
all balance sheet tax accounts and analysis of all changes to the accounts.
all Sarbanes Oxley (“SOX”) documentation.
the research and resolution of all income tax issues arising from income tax return and financial tax accounting preparation.
Represent Canon USA in all IRS audits with a view to resolving all tax issues in the favor of Canon USA.
Assist the Senior Director with all Merger and Acquisition research and integration.
Assist the Senior Director with all transfer pricing issues inclusive of all APA related compliance and renewals.
All income tax and business license tax returns must be correct and filed by the appropriate due dates.
All sales, use and property tax returns must be correct and filed by the appropriate due dates.
The quarterly and year end financial statement tax accounts and provisions must be correct and completed in a timely manner.
All IRS audits must be completed with little or no adjustments by Canon USA and subsidiaries.
All transfer pricing documentation must be completed and filed with the IRS in a timely manner.


Education Required: Bachelors Degree in Accounting. A CPA and/or Masters degree in Taxation would be a plus.
Experience Required: Ten to fifteen years of income tax experience, International Tax a must; additionally Transfer Pricing is a plus.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of staff and management. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively manage and guide reporting staff.
Must remain current on all tax principles and developments to be able to train and guide staff and consult with other departments within the Finance and Accounting Division, as well as, other Canon USA Divisions and Subsidiaries.
Must have strong research skills to be able to resolve any and all tax issues arising in Canon Americas.
