Director - Enterprise Planning and Control - United States Steel Corporation - Pittsburgh


Job Description The Director of Enterprise Planning and Control is responsible for developing short and long range sales and operating plans that most efficiently fulfill the sales forecast and maximize profit for the corporation. Adjusts the forecast using outside intelligence and statistical information and communicates the forecast to the rest of the corporation. Monitors the forecast and tests for accuracy. Monitors and manages facility demand loadings across the corporation, considering the Master Plan and actual events. Considers strategies and alternatives to current conditions in order to maximize the efficiency and profit margin of the corporation while maximizing customer service needs.
Position requires frequent interaction with commercial, sales, logistics, quality, marketing and operations as well as communication of the operations plan to executive management. Creates weekly short term plan updates to adapt to changing conditions. Manages and oversees a operations planning group and development of the people in the Enterprise Planning organization.

The Director will perform these duties under direction of the General Manager-Sales & Operations Planning and through direct interaction and collaboration with Plant General Management, Plant Operations personnel, Commercial Entity leadership, and Quality Assurance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages and reviews the weekly generation of the Sales & Operations Plan enabling flexibility in adjusting production plans and corresponding sales allocations.
• Interfaces regularly with the Commercial Entities, Marketing, Operating, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service for development of tactical and strategic planning.
• Develops and submits Short Range and Business Plans to Accounting quarterly.
• Develops and submits the annual Strategic Plan through coordination of S&OP leadership.
• Works closely with the Operations Planners to identify and resolve loading issues across all plants.
• Responsible for quickly providing Ad Hoc information to executive leadership as needed.
• Responsible for leading the strategy and direction of enterprise planning and communicating enterprise planning process and system usage across organization
• Lead the creation of corporate standards and process efficiencies with regard to future specifications for meeting the CE expectations and customer needs.
• Champion innovative efficiencies and strategic forward-thinking in all areas of the enterprise planning phase for S&OP for improvement.

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, math, supply chain, or a closely related field is required. Advanced degrees a preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in Business Planning is required; at least 5 years of experience in leadership position.
• Strong knowledge of integrated Supply Chain Solution sets and i2/jda planning tool set, oracle ebs and ability to quickly learn system tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Work Environment/ Physical Requirements

• Normal office and plant environments
• Requires travel to North American steelmaking facilities and customer locations
