Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Managing Director of Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM), the successful candidate will be responsible for providing governance, reporting and monitoring of disaster recovery planning and ensure appropriate corporate governance and awareness of existing risk issues.

What You’ll Do

Responsible for helping the firm balance risk by aligning policies, procedures and reporting with Schwab’s Disaster Recovery and regulatory requirements. The role will be responsible for the development, enforcement and monitoring of controls, policies and procedures, and risk and compliance reporting for the Disaster Recovery program.
This role involves development, monitoring and reporting of IT DR standards for DRP readiness.
Effective partnership and teamwork with Operational Continuity, BCIM the Technology teams and other service teams is a key success factor. Manages timely and effective closure of identified issues.
Defining and implementing relevant policies and procedures that facilitate an effective corporate Disaster Recovery program aligned with the goals and objectives of Schwab and its departments.
Review Recovery policy components for adherence to the current FINRA 4370 Rule or the FFIEC IT Examination Business Continuity planning Booklet for bank systems.
Assess compliance of the DR standards and best practices
Review procedures for completeness, compliance and adequacy
Assess DR strategies meet and/or exceed RTO and RPO needs
Manage metrics to assess risk, compliance and performance of the program and its strategies and plans
Monitor, track and report on assessments
Monitor, assess and provide recommendations to minimize the risk in comprehensiveness and capability of plans.
Validate DR metrics
Validate system recovery plans have been tested in accordance with Policy requirements.
Reports metrics to the Operational Risk Oversight Committee, and the Board Risk Committee
Produces overall DR performance reporting
Monitor, assess and minimize the risk in comprehensiveness and capability of plans
Manage metrics to assess risk, compliance and performance of the program and its strategies and plans
Monitor and report risk issues within the SIRIS database
Monitor and report issues and exceptions

What You Have
7+ years experience in delivering disaster recovery policy, management and process for a complex organization
Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and report writing skills, including the ability to evaluate the usefulness of data and use it in meaningful communication.
Bachelors degree in industrial science, risk management, or IT preferred
Independent judgment with demonstrated analytical and risk assessment skills
Ability to think with a control and process mindset. The successful candidate has a strong control design, audit and reporting background.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with shifting deadlines and priorities under limited supervision
Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability in communicating with senior executives
Strong presentation skills involving large and of varying IT background audiences; ability to adjust message and filter details based on audience.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively, internally and externally, with the most senior representatives of organizations.
Self-motivated, able to bring projects and reporting to conclusion
