Director - Quality - Vector Aerospace - Andalusia
Job description
We have an immediate opening for a Director of Quality. This position will report to the Vice President of Operations and will be based in the Andalusia, Alabama facility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operational control of the Quality department, including the preparation, approval, distribution & revision of the companies maintenance manuals, quality system procedures manuals, special processes & any other publications as required by the FAA, Foreign, Civil and Military authorities.
Role of Chief Inspector.
Responsible for DCMA certification including GOP/FOP procedures.
Managing and compliance with AS9110 and ISO 9001-2008 standards.
Quality contributions to contracts and engineering projects.
Customer liaison for all quality and airworthiness related issues.
Ensuring control is maintained over non-conforming products, including approval and issuance of dispositions for rework, and/or subsequent disposal of any items found unacceptable or beyond economical repair.
That operations during repair conform to approved airworthiness specifications and that release certifications, issued by authorized inspection personnel, clearly reflect the work performed and comply with the minimum requirements.
The establishment of standards and the issue and control of inspection stamps, for shop inspection personnel. associated with the repair are in compliance with the regulations and where applicable contract requirements.
Providing advice and recommendations to Managers and Supervisors, with respect to regulatory, quality control and quality assurance issues.
The competency and training of quality personnel.
Routine liaison with regulatory authorities, with respect to the required airworthiness standards of aeronautical products undergoing repair or alterations.
Responsible for the annual quality budget and remaining within the approved budgetary constraints.
Desired Skills and Experience
At least 15 years of experience in aviation, preferably in an MRO environment in a quality role.
Minimum 5 years in Director level position with a Part 145 Repair Station.
Practical experience in internal auditing, ability to interpret second and third party audit assessments and respond satisfactorily to observations made.
In depth knowledge of FAA regulations as these apply to the work or specific contracts.
Experience with ISO 9000, AS9100 and AS9110 standards.
Strong leadership, management and customer service skills.
Strong organization and communication skills.
Bachelors in Aeronautics or related field (preferred).
