Director - Data Systems & Governance - Bayer - Whippany


Job description
The Director, Data Systems and Governance will lead the management,
coordination and governance of proprietary BCC syndicated databases,
ensuring management, coordination and governance working collaboratively
with internal partners (GSBA, IT, BPA, BCC Business, Bayer Corporate) as
well as with external partners.
Data Harmonization: Work internally with SBUs and regions, and
externally with data vendors to ensure ongoing data harmonization of the
proprietary global data base classifications, questions.

Data Governance: Ensure data quality throughout the delivery process,
including issue resolution and appropriate internal and external
communication with stakeholders.
Data Provider/Partner Management: Mange and own the relationship with
key data vendors to ensure that the most accurate, timely data is
available for analysis as well as contract performance.

• Leading Governance Practices: Drive all guidelines as set by
leadership.
• Define data vendor requirements: Make sure expectations are set
with vendors and ensure that required data files are received on time,
in the correct format, and without any errors.
• Perform data maintenance activities (topline audits similar to
those currently performed by GSBA analyst). Coordinate with BBS, Beyond
Data, and other internal teams to ensure proper maintenance.
• Perform data checks and ensure data consistency, and will
create and manage the entire process for BCC/ GSBA.
• Perform/ensure completion of other data-related activities such
as data loading, testing, etc. Implement communication protocol across
the entire governance structure.
• Serve as the “go-to” contact with respect to technical matters
including shifts in database definitions or the integration of data
across various sources.
• Manage and deliver the ongoing documentation process of the
harmonization
• Be able manage and communicate data and database

Desired Skills and Experience

• 12 years+ experience in a combination of business systems,
data/database management, IT project management and decision sciences
• BA/BS required, advanced degree in business analysis (MBA, MS,
PhD) strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of secondary data such IMS, Nielsen,
and/or IRI required.
• Prior project team leadership experience required, as is being
skilled at managing without authority.
• Prior P&L/budgeting experience preferred.
• Understanding of the Consumer Health landscape is required.
• Strong project management, analytical skills, learning agility
active listening and communication skills required.
• High level of personal and professional integrity required.
• Self-motivated and have the business acumen to connect back
data nuances back to the business implications.
• Ability to express analysis plans and results clearly in
writing and verbally required.
