Director Gas Maintenance Construction National Grid Waltham

To direct regional field activities for the New England Gas team including emergency response, gas maintenance and gas construction. Ensure the safe, reliable and efficient provision of gas services that are fully compliant with the relevant codes and regulations, and continuously look for opportunities to improve our performance in serving our customers.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Public, employee and contractor safety associated with your field activities. Promote a culture of safety and wellness, supporting the team towards a goal of no-one getting hurt at or as a consequence of our work.
Lead, engage, empower, and develop the New England Gas team.
Ensuring data recording and accuracy within your field activities is appropriate and complete to support accurate management and regulatory reporting.
Continuously improve our business processes and performance for customers by embedding Performance Excellence as a way of working.
Drive customer satisfaction by working collaboratively with customers and other departments across the end to end processes.
Prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure regional field activities including mandated services are delivered in line with expectations and customer/business objectives.
Ensure that the 24/7 emergency response service and supporting plans are in place in order to safeguard public and property from suspected gas leaks and other emergencies so that the potential loss of life, damage and interruption of service are minimized.
Develop and sustain relationships with the local unions and in conjunction with the Director of Labour Strategy develop a local labour relations strategy, to improve operational flexibility, increase efficiencies and minimize disruption caused by IR issues.
Budgetary performance across your field activities.
Responsible, along with Learning and Development, for ensuring the employees and contractors under their control are appropriately trained, competent and have the necessary flexibility to meet current and future workload requirements.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience Required:
A Bachelor’s degree preferably in an engineering discipline and/or professional (PE)/engineer license.
Experience as an operational leader working in safety-conscious, high risk environment with multiple priorities to balance and deliver with a dispersed workforce.
Experience of managing budgets, team performance, talent and labor relations.
Experience driving sustained business improvement and change.
Experience of gas operations and processes preferred.
The complexity of the scope, number of stakeholders and accountabilities mean that a degree or equivalent level qualification or equivalent experience will be required.
Successful track record of identifying and sharing best practice from within and outside the company.
Successful track record in implementing significant change.
Creates a culture where people are inspired to deliver high performance.
Mentor high-potential people to assume greater future responsibilities.
Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven.
