Job description
The Director, Publishing must be a dynamic leader whose vision will aggressively grow the daily traffic and audience awareness for DDN’s websites. This role is for a team leader capable of defining success metrics and driving results in a constantly changing environment. The candidate needs to be a seasoned, digital-media professional with sound experience in editorial publishing that has proven to grow page views, unique visitors and video views by optimizing the visitor experience. This role requires someone who will take calculated risks to drive growth through creativity, data-driven insights, optimization, and iteration.

The Director, Publishing will manage two full-time Web Producers as well as a group of contract writers. The position will frequently collaborate with the Audience Development team and other DDN leaders to provide strategic guidance, identify opportunities, and solve problems.

Responsibilities:
This position will implement an editorial publishing strategy and expand DDN’s value proposition to users, attracting visitors to four owned and operated websites and mobile apps
Manage a team of specialists who oversee daily publishing and content optimization and aim to provide the best possible conditions for audience growth

Maintain high quality content with integrity that serves our audience, we are looking to build a long-term audience rather than click-bait material
Facilitate communication with other DDN teams including programming, product and sales and audience development
Select and manage third-party tools - measuring performance, negotiating contracts, and continually developing the optimal mix
Lead the development of cross-promotion programs with other sites, talent, franchises and publishers to drive awareness and traffic
Provide regular reporting based on audience and engagement metrics to measure growth and inform ongoing strategy shifts
Execute against key performance indicators by constantly adjusting weekly tactics with an eye toward long term goals
Develop audience research and use digital analytics/web tools to track user experiences

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
6+ years of experience in digital media, preferably in a content business
Experience in a publishing role in a media organization
Strong leadership skills and the ability to balance big-picture thinking with strong attention to detail
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills, ability to interpret data to make decisions
Must have legal right to work in the United States
