Director - Analytics - Thumbtack - San Francisco

Job description
We have a data-driven culture, but we still feel like we’re only taking advantage of a fraction of the information we have to drive the right decisions for our customers, professionals and business. We’re looking for a hands-on analytics leader to build a team of analysts who partner with Product, Marketing, Operations and other teams to answer key questions about Thumbtack’s marketplace.
You’ll help define the key metrics that we use to measure our progress and do creative analyses that help define Thumbtack’s strategy. You’ll build a team from scratch to support the analytics needs of our rapidly scaling product and team. You have a strong combination of analytical prowess, technical aptitude and business judgement. You’re focused on results, a self-starter and have a demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, progression and user engagement of a product.

Responsibilities
Grow and lead a team of analysts
Work with product, marketing and other teams to identify key problems
Untangle ambiguous problems and find the insights that drive Thumbtack forward
Define and track success metrics across the company
Partner with data engineering to ensure data is accessible to the entire organization


Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
8+ years of industry experience in a consumer-internet or closely related analytics role
5+ years of experience building and managing an analytics team
Killer data analysis skills in a business context
Demonstrated success in presenting large datasets in a clear and compelling manner that inspires action
Basic scripting skills in either Python or R
Advanced SQL skills
JavaScript and MapReduce to query Mongo
Excellent verbal and written communication
Bonus Points
Computer science or software engineering background
Experience with multi-channel direct marketing attribution modeling
