Director - Communication and Enablement - Biogen Idec - Cambridge


Job description
Working for a global, pharmaceutical company, the Director of the Adoption, Communications and Enablement (ACE) function is accountable for creating and implementing change management strategies and plans for critical change initiatives identified and implemented by the newly launched Global Supply Chain Center of Expertise. This individual will design and implement process and change interventions (stakeholder engagement/communications, capability building/learning, stakeholder management, etc) that integrate strategy, technology and people to enable improvements to advance Biogen Idec’s Supply Chain. She/he will report to the Sr. Director, Supply Chain Services who leads the Supply Chain Center of Expertise (CoE) and will direct the efforts of two direct/dotted-line reports.

In this role, she/he will act as the Change Management Lead on a multi-year, multi-phase Supply Chain Transformation and ERP Oracle implementation program, interfacing with the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team and Business Process Owners to guide them through this global transformation. This individual will drive change to maximize employee adoption of key initiatives and operating model change to increase value realization.


The successful candidate will be both a leader and implementer, equally comfortable in coaching senior leaders as creating detailed change plans and training materials in various MS Office applications.

Change Management Strategy & Planning

• Develop comprehensive, actionable change management plans including communications, sponsorship, stakeholder management, coaching, capability building/training, and change measurement plans.
• Utilize Biogen Idec Change Framework to implement standard practices for change management.
• Participate in project workshops to understand the implications of future business processes, assess the change impacts, and understand required organizational and role changes.
• Collaborate with the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team, Business Process Owners, and Human Resources to reach alignment on change management strategies.
• Partner with functional project team members to integrate change management activities into project plans.
• Define metrics and develop dashboard to assess and report on change and business readiness status.
• Coordinate change management plans with other change initiatives occurring outside of Global Supply Chain.

Change Management Plan Execution

• Drive execution of master change management plans including communications, sponsorship, stakeholder management, capability building/training, and change measurement.
• Partner with HR to execute change interventions to support the rollout of new and changing organizational roles.
• Identify people side risks and anticipated points of resistance and develop mitigation plans to address the concerns.
• Track, monitor and report metrics related to business readiness, commitment and adoption of change initiatives.

Capability Building (via Learning & Training)

• Define multi-year learning roadmap and supporting plan for Global Supply Chain organization.
• Provide oversight to direct report (or consulting resources) and external consultants throughout the development and execution of training plan to support Supply Chain Transformation Program and change initiatives.
• Coordinate with Continuous Improvement function to drive training effectiveness through Super User network.
• Coordinate with IT function to identify learning gaps based upon incoming Service Desk inquiries and tickets.
• Identify measures to assess employee learning and training effectiveness; track effectiveness and value derived from Supply Chain Academy learning solution.
• Establish a process to manage and deliver refresher and new hire training and continually evolve it.
• Develop and implement Global Supply Chain new hire orientation and first year experience program.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communications

• Provide oversight to direct report (or consulting resources) throughout development and execution of communication plans to support Global Supply Chain organization and specific change initiatives.
• Review communication materials to ensure messages are impactful for target audience.
• Support Global Supply Chain leadership team in a variety of communication activities (leadership meetings, intranet site, email messaging, etc).

Build Change Leadership Capability

• Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on managing employee changes by advising / coaching all levels of management on execution of change management activities.
• Work with leaders to make change management principles an integral part of their strategic thought process.

Qualifications

• 5 – 7 years of experience related to successful delivery of change management work in the disciplines of change management methodology, stakeholder engagement, sponsorship alignment, marketing or communication, training/performance support, or organizational readiness
• Experience with ERP/Oracle a plus
• Consulting experience preferred (internal or external)
• Ability to influence others, create change and move toward common vision or goal.
• Strong collaborator
• Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal; active listening skills, the ability to clearly articulate messages and distill complex ideas into simple and compelling stories.
• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• Strong executive presence and strong interpersonal skills
• Organized, independent and self-motivated with team player attitude

Education

Bachelor’s degree; focus in Organization Development/HR preferred
