BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:
The successful candidate will provide a high level of confidence to our customers and stakeholders that all Blount products meet or exceed relevant industry related standards and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for providing leadership in all aspects of product safety and regulatory compliance to all business units. The primary focus of this position is to develop, manage, implement, and maintain internal and external processes to assure compliance with product safety and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions in which Blount products are sold.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Determine, develop and manage the infrastructure and resources necessary to manage Blount’s product safety and compliance programs
Ensure product compliance with all laws, regulations and requirements
Participate in standards development activities with organizations such as OPEI, CSA, UL, ISO, SAE, EGMF, and others
Collaborate with international safety, testing, and certification organizations as needed to develop Blount relationships
Make product design recommendations to expedite standards certifications
Develop and qualify internal laboratory tests as required by business needs
Direct and assist with noncompliance issues arising from EU Market Surveillance, CPSC, and other domestic and international authorities
Assess impact of developing standards with regards to the threats and opportunities in product development projects and communicate these to business leaders
Prepare, deliver, and maintain required reports and documentation
Provide leadership and direction to Team Member Leaders and Professionals
Develop and foster an environment of team work among all direct reports
Develop departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
Desired Skills and Experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Five or more years of combined experience in product safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance is required
Experience with whole goods products is required
Prior management experience required, preferably in a global manufacturing environment
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Must be able to travel domestic and internationally
Product development experience is preferred
Good contacts within the whole goods industry, especially electrical related, preferred
Solid working knowledge of various standards set by international organizations such as: UL, CSA, TUV, ISO, ANSI, US DOT
Demonstrated innovative thinking skills
Proven ability to develop and foster collaborative relationships and influence others
Strong administrative skills
