Director - Custom Learning Solutions and Instructional Design - Paradigm Learning - St. Petersburg


Job description

Manages a team of instructional designers, creative writers and project leaders to design and develop training and communication programs, including new products and custom client solutions; assists sales personnel in the sales process.

Responsibilities
The Director has day-to-day operating responsibility for the fulfillment of all Paradigm Learning custom projects for external clients as well as Paradigm product development and supporting the sales team. The key job responsibilities for this position are:



1. Overall leadership of the design and development team consisting of writers, instructional designers, technologists, developers, project leaders and video specialists (approximately five full-time personnel and a contractor pool of 10+ consultants)

Assess needs of individual projects and assign appropriate personnel to client engagements.
Lead through example by facilitating discovery sessions, assisting clients to identify solutions, consulting on implementation strategies and participating as designer, writer or project leader
Work collaboratively with other departments, including art and illustration, delivery services and sales team

2. Develop and support creative design solutions

Tailoring of custom activities associated with Paradigm’s ready-made products
Fulfillment of Discovery Map® projects
Creation and development of fully-customized, from-scratch games, simulations and other discovery learning programs
Solutions may include paper-based and digital programs, classroom-based and online, web or app based

3. Manage new product development and updates of current Paradigm Learning products

4. Provide sales support and serve as a consultant/spokesperson for Paradigm’s design solutions

Assist during sales and proposal processes, helping clarify client needs and potential design solutions as well as pricing to meet Paradigm goals and client needs
Build close working relationships with key clients, partnering with sales and marketing personnel to identify and develop expanded business opportunities.
Enhance company reputation, credibility and visibility around the fulfillment of robust client engagements

5. Attract, on-board and retain additional talent; coach and mentor staff and contractors around innovation, customer satisfaction and engagement, program effectiveness and quality, and profit margin management.

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements

7 years or more experience hiring, training and managing instructional designers, writers, technologists, training program project leaders, or other organizational development personnel
5 years or more experience interfacing with senior management, prospects, clients and sales personal as a support system; experience in designing solutions, writing proposals, assisting with sales calls
5 years or more personal experience as instructional designer, writer of training programs
Applied experience in design and training of general leadership programs (change mgmt, business acumen, leadership, on boarding, etc.); applied experience in digital, online and virtual training as well as leader-led and participant-focused training
Undergraduate degree required. Advanced degree – especially in the area of business, organization effectiveness, communication, instructional design or technology and/or human resources – is preferred. Awards and/or certification in employee training, human resources, personnel, change management, organizational development or other related areas are expected.
Ability to travel (25%+)
