Director - Social Media - Holland America Line - Seattle


Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Drives the company's social strategy including establishing measureable goals, tactics, timelines and budget. Manages a team of social marketing and engagement specialists and oversees a practice of ongoing collaboration with internal stakeholders and other departments. Directs the selection of external social partners and actively participates in the direction and evaluation of their work. Owns social insight and measurement reporting communication through organization to management. Facilitates the creation of online content to build awareness, leads, loyalty and referrals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Drives, plans and oversees the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives, including engagement governance, viral marketing campaigns, corporate social venues and integrated marketing efforts.
Owns and evolves the company's social business strategy, reporting back to management on progress against social business goals.
Explores and researches social and digital initiatives, examining best practices in the travel category and related fields; bringing insights to inform HAL's social media programs.
Manages the identification, monitoring, response to and reporting of potential threats and opportunities occurring in the online environment.
Directs the generation of social content efforts and oversees all engagement actions and metrics.
Conducts campaign analysis and translates anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the social media campaigns.
Manages a cross-departmental task force representing Public Relations, Guest Relations, Human Resources, Sales and others.
Actively collaborates with those directing marketing communications programs, especially web marketing, online media, search advertising and SEO.

Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Five years marketing experience; minimum of three years in managing social media programs on the client or agency side
Bachelor's degree in a related field. MBA preferred.
Results-oriented approach, effective judgment, self-motivated
Excellent research, organization and communication skills
Experience in online content production and publishing
Proven ability to lead a team within a matrix environment
Possess skills in the creative and analytical side of marketing
Thorough understanding of the current social media universe and search engine optimization concepts
Previous experience in the travel or hospitality industry considered a plus
