Director - Engineering - The Angus Group - Midwestern


Job description
Focus the engineering organization on innovation, training and continuous product development.
Introduce state of the art software tools to improve product development and application engineering cycles. Provide training program for new and existing engineering staff.
Drive standardization of engineering processes and modular design principles.
Realize product cost reductions by driving product development modularity.
Manage a matrix staff of engineers according to project requirements including product development, FEA, metallurgy and machine performance.
Encourage an outward focused “voice of the customer” culture.
Interface with divisional managers to coordinate engineering project pipeline.
Function as external technical ambassador to strategic customers as required.

Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering. MBA or MSME preferred.
At least 10 – 15 years of engineering related experience.
Career progression from design engineering to a management role in the past.
Proven experience adopting advanced engineering tools to improve accuracy and cycle time in product development.
Actively participate in the evaluation of engineering candidates for departmental expansion.
Exhibit a participative management style which values long term employees while shaping the organization for the future.
